Re: The City Game

A little more history.

The last time DU beat Pitt was in 2000.  Aaron Lovelace picked up a loose ball and laid in the game-winning basket with 2.2 seconds left as Duquesne beat Pittsburgh 71-70.  I remember it was a wild ending.  The Dukes almost gave the game away after Lovelace's winning basket.  After a timeout, the Dukes were penalized for having six players on the court, and Page was given one free throw for the technical foul. He missed it, making the Panthers 6-for-15 from the line for the game, but Pittsburgh got to inbound the ball. Greer then overthrew senior Isaac Hawkins just past midcourt as the horn sounded.

Reminder for those near their computer.  Coach Ferry is on Trib Radio today (@ 1:15). Use link below to listen.

OK that lasted 15 minutes.  Some back handed question by Dejan Kovacevic like "do you really think you can recruit talent to Duquesne?" Ferry was good but all stuff we heard before.  Be glad if you missed it.

Re: The City Game

Dejan's column for 12/5 is such a joke!

12/05/2012 12:25 am  #40

Re: The City Game

That column is beyond laughable.  He brings up 3 recruits that we didn't even sign!  Coty Clarke?  Wtf!  I don't even remember his name being mentioned as a possible target.  To my recollection, Moore and Jack were our recruits and Everhart was scrambling at the last minute to replace his two point guards who transferred.  He was after Trey Anderson who I believe is in Prep School right now.  Honest to God, that article is beyond pathetic and shows little to no journalism.  During his interview with Dejan, Ferry even mentioned that Jack would've been a project, yet this article makes him sound like the next Bill Russell.  He mentions the conferences of the teams these players play for, but no mention of how good the teams are.  Utah sucks, and the PAC 12 has been absolutely terrible the past two years.  Penn State isn't exactly Michigan State.  Akron crushed the Nittany Lions by 25 points and I didn't exactly see Jack dominating the poor ole MAC team.  Wow...

Re: The City Game

This article makes my blood boil. So much of the it is based completely on hearsay. He makes these end of the bench players on mediocre to awful BCS teams seem like they would have taken Duquesne to the Final Four. He is so biased. Pittsburgh sports writers should not try to write some inflammatory article about the Dukes when they:

#1 Never go to games
#2 Believe anything a coach and his staff say when they are already out the door and have nothing to lose by exaggerating
#3 Have such a blatant bias for making U of Pitt look good they can't even see it

Oh and we know Dejan, you went to Duquesne and wear it like a purple heart.

The worst part is that the class that ACTUALLY came to Duquesne is made to look like bums even though he states they are providing 40% of the scoring! It can't be both ways! The fantasy class was not going to make this game any "better". The class Ferry brought in is arguably better, even though it is very early. He seems to think that just because the fantasy class is now at BCS schools (bad ones) they are automatically better. This kind of BCS bias is what is wrong with college basketball. This guy should stick to skewering the Pirates. I would be pissed at Dejan if I were a Duquesne freshman bball player. He trashes them and plays the what if game like there was some awful mistake made with the firing of RE. Duquesne's record is 4-3! Not 0-7!

This guy is classless. #Dejalusional

Well tonight's bludgeoning by Pitt shows how far down the trash can Duquesne is sitting. Wasn't even competitive.

Re: The City Game

This series should be suspended. It serves no good use for us to be humiliated year after year and dupe good people out of their ticket money. Worse yet it gets televised nationally so all can see us score 1 point per minute.
