Rick Carlberg's son...

Briefly  encountered a very tall (looked to be around 6'8 or more) blond lad with a "Duquesne" sweat shirt at Sam's (at the Mills) yesterday -- and asked him if he was playing for the Dukes.  His answer - "no, but my Dad (Rick Carlton) played for them in '89."   Would liked to have quizzed him further about why he wasn't playing for the Dukes but he seemed to be in a hurry.  Anybody know anything about him?

Re: Rick Carlberg's son...

Here's a nice (dated) article on Rich Carlberg to celebrate his induction into the A-K Valley Sports Hall of Fame.

Rich played for the Dukes from 65-68, averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds for his career.

Re: Rick Carlberg's son...

Along with the irrepressible Michael  Bove, Rich had the loudest voice ever at the Civic Arena.  He used it to initiate the infamous Battle of Cleveland, where the Dukes defeated the Russian Navy.
He was also drafted by Green Bay as a punter/ tight end.   Hell of an athlete.
