I'm guessing Rotroff's injury is pretty severe, unless the Dukes had an extra scholarship to give. Hoping it's not a season ending injury. Dambrot must see something in this guy's basketball IQ, as well as his past accomplishments. Ray I read where he is expected to be out until January. I feel bad for Rotroff, he worked his tail off in the off season. The Dukes are effectively down 2 scholarship players with Maceo stepping away and Austin being injured. Tough break for Rotroff and the Dukes. Any info. on what happened to Austin? This is really disappointing news about Rotroff. We are already small and just got smaller. If hes expected back in January I can't imagine he'll contribute much this year - big men seem to take longer to get into "game shape" after an injury. This begs the question, What is the deal with Hima? He's never mentioned when there is a discussion about this team? He was a big time recruit and did 2 years of high school at a major program, right? He has been with the Dukes for over a year at this point! Why is it taking him so long to be ready to go? This makes no sense to me. I understand he got hurt in High School but the guy is 20 years old and will be 21 before next summer! Does anybody know anything about why he should not be a major contributor this season? Is Hima really any different than any other player? I read a quick article about Okani a while ago, but other than tthat, I havent heard anything about anyone else on the team. Heck, maybe KD is installing a new philosophy/concept/style/offense. It will be radio silence up until its time not to be. I have no idea, and thats fine by me. Is Hima really any different than any other player? Nothing like that with Hima - or - if so, please share. Styles from what I read about Hima is that he did not start playing organized basketball until he was 17. He was a soccer player who had a big growth spurt, and then came to the US to play basketball. He earned some D1 offers his senior year at St. Benedict's, and chose to come to Duquesne. There is some question if he came paying his own way last season. I could be wrong, but I don't think he actually practiced with the team last season while he was sitting out. He is a work in process. Hopefully he sticks with the team and KD can develop him. We will see. Just seems strange that he had offers from other "better" schools but chose Duquesne and possibly paid his own way. if he wasn't working out with the team last season that is also confusing. At any rate, he's on the roster and we are thin at center so I'm sure he'll get SOME run this season. at 20 years old it's time to see how far he has "progressed." CLK & I watched the same Hima high school games. He was raw but no more so than some other young A-10 bigs we will see this season. I thought his full game footage very encouraging. It is not like he was a total stiff or was tripping over his own feet. The best of those videos was from April of 2019.
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

As a side note, Dylan Swingle just left the Bowling Green program.

Let's say Mounir needed a serious surgery at some point last year & that is why he didn't play last season. We saw some weight room footage of him over the summer. What is his status now? Would it kill the program to provide a preseason update to the fans of his current status?
This could easily happen without committing any HIPPA violations.
This reminds me of how information about Jett & others was released. I am tired of this approach.
