In this case short in depth as well as size. It really makes it difficult when an injury; or even a few untimely fouls create a desperate situation. Tre Williams battled hard against Dayton but must have felt like he was being swarmed by hornets all day. Just too many opponents crashing from all directions. Offline We are really at a big disadvantage moving ahead. Things could go further south for us than we ever expected! Not certain that there will be as many close games now as I recently suggested!! Online! Hima needs to get some floor time. We haven't seen enough of him to know what his ceiling is, and he can only develop so much in practice. He needs game experience for that next step. I suspect Osunniyi will give us a lot of problems if we front him the entire game with a 6'7" center. Offline Would love to see Hima get more PT especially now. I can only assume that the coaching staff doesn't believe that he is ready to play A-10 basketball. If that's the case, one has to wonder when, if ever, will Hima be able to contribute to this team. Offline As someone wrote several weeks ago "if there was ever a team screaming to incorporate a zone defense it is this one." Short handed with starters playing major minutes, and with an inexperienced back up center better suited for a zone, I sure hope KD has used this last week to work on incorporating a zone. However, I doubt it. Offline Probably as much chance of a zone from Duquesne as me ordering a cheeseburger in the Oyster House! However, I doubt it. I doubt it. What change up your defense. NOT. Offline KD is a defense first guy but this team's man D has been quite disappointing thus far. Can't imagine what's to lose putting some zone in. Especially now with such a short bench. Offline Hima has to play now. What is there to lose? Arent making any postseason tourn, so might as well play him and see what he can do. He'll get better with more PT. Last edited by townsonkid (1/21/2022 10:57 am) Offline It might not be pretty tonight what with the Bonnies smarting from a shellacking in Dayton. Who knows? Maybe Primo or JJ take over the game and the result could surprise. Easley is due to bounce back and have a good game as well. Will be tough on Tre against Osunniyi. What better time for Hima to get more time and show us something even if just fighting hard for rebounds. GO DUKES!! Offline Bonnie’s have largely been disappointing this year; really getting their doors blown off on a couple of occasions. Sometimes players can stay around too long; and some of their guys have been around forever. I suppose they either had few options; or they got sweet deals to stick around Olean for another year. Either way they are an “old” team that will likely be able to remember enough to beat an undermanned Dukes team. Perhaps instead of the usual folding chairs used for the visitors bench; Duquesne could replace them for tonight with rocking chairs for the super senior Bonnie’s, and leave a Medicare flier on each rocker! Offline The Bonnies have only been disappointing as compared to the expectation that they would be in the Top 25 all season. It is true that they got blown-out by #70 Dayton at Dayton & #31 VA Tech on a neutral court. They also lost to #107 N Iowa at home. There other loss was to #15 UConn, by 10 on a neutral court, without Lofton. Offline Dukes should come out and try to run them til they collapse, we can use 8-10 guys and be alright if thats the plan. Try to make then run a lot, use their bench some, maybe get their C in foul trouble, you know, some strategy, a game plan. Anything but the SOS would be fine.
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)
Rotroff Out 4 to 6 weeks
Tristan Freeman@hoopsnut351 Big injury news out of Duquesne; Veteran big man Austin Rotroff is out 4-6 weeks after a foot injury this past week. He’s been playing great this season in limited minutes but now both he and RJ Gunn is out of the picture in the frontcourt.

Hopefully a student shows up and wins the $5K scholarship.

They had trouble coming out of COVID pause & an injury to Kyle Lofton that cost them at least one game. It must not be forgotten that they stayed in the Top 25 for 3 weeks, are still on the bubble according to Lunardi, they beat teams #39, #50, & #66 on a neutral court, & blew VCU out by 20 just 7 days ago. (VCU beat Dayton on 1/5.)
