Our Savior just a stiff

Former almost Duquesne Forward Donovan Jack was 2/4 on lay ups and I rebound plus 4 fouls playing against Pitt, McKoy looks to be a better player.
Penn State guards are strong.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

Jack is averaging almost 8 ppg, shooting 54% from the field, and is 80%+ from the FT line.

If nothing else, he could teach Ovie how to shoot FTs.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

Jack is a decent player. Not a difference maker, but a nice complementary piece if a team has some good inside players to go along with him. If you're depending on him to be a force inside, forget it. If you can afford to let him play away from the basket, he'll be a pretty good player.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

I would take him in a heart beat and anyone suggesting otherwise is insane.  That said, he is not a savior either.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

Was @ the Pitt PSU game. Great venue college basketball as it should be. I would recommend that should you have an opportunity to watch the Panthers @ the Pete go. Unfortunately you will come to the realization that this program is in a deep hole. I also saw atleast 10 former Duquesne season ticket holders wearing Pitt gear at the game. Cant blame them the Pete with the students is fun. Penn State showed great guard play & a well coached team. By the way I would take D Jack in a heart beat. Please enough of the Everhart bashing.Good luck coach Ferry if you do not win they will turn on you and your family like rabid dogs its the Duquesne way.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

I think we have to envision Donovan Jack as a Junior and Senior in the A10 - two years beyond the point in time to save RE's job. The A10 doesn't get 4 and 5 star players - 2 and 3 stars is what we get, and if they're respectable, they contribute as Juniors and Seniors.

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

I was at the game last night with a Penn State grad who provided the tickets.  I was pulling for the Nittany Lions to pull off the upset, and the Pitt fans were in shock when PSU went up seven miday through the second half.  It was a highly spirited and exciting game; with the usual homer calls against PSU down the stretch to ensure Pitt a home win.
It is a nice venue but the obnoxious band is way too brassy and too loud; really annoying if you just want to watch the game.  There were quite a number of PSU fans in the house and still a good number of empty seats scattered throughout the building.  I'm sure Pitt would tell you that they were sold, but still empty.
Keep in mind that we the taxpayers bought the building for Pitt basketball; an advantage that a private school doesn't have.  We don't have to have what they have to be successful!  We can pursue a quality program without all the nonsense that Pitt tries to push at these games.
And you will never catch this DU grad wearing any Pitt gear!

Re: Our Savior just a stiff

In PSU's last game against Marshall, Donovon Jack had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks in 27 minutes. I don't think he is a savior, but I don't think one could call him a stiff either. He looks like a solid player. Solid players at every position makes a good team. Solid players at three positons with two stars makes an NCAA tourney threat.
