Offline Offline I'd like to see a basic zone, even if for a few possessions a game. Not all the time, but to change it up, catch teams off guard, slow down a game maybe. Online! Yes, From Bart Torvik's analytics,,,,, Projected top offense and top 5 defense. Offline Dambrot great recruiter transfer portal. Game day 🤔 if as I suspect he has the talent Dukes have a chance. Go Dukes👍 Offline Last year our biggest defensive issue was that we could not stop the dribble penetration for easy high percentage baskets. We were exposed in the SLU game when their bigger guards consistently just overpowered our smaller guards for easy layups with no adjustments by KD. The rest of the season other teams followed the same formula. The Davidson game was hard to watch, and still is even on replay. I would like to see Dambrot quit being so stubborn and find a way to change things up by incorporating a zone. Online! Could be the fly in the ointment that makes this season less than what it could be. Hope I'm not too harsh here and that I'm dead wrong!
Zone Defense in Today’s College Basketball
This is a really informative article regarding zone defense. When teams can run out 3 or 4 guards, forwards and even centers that can knock down the 3 pointer at a high rate, you better hope that your team’s zone defense can defend the 3 (or hope the opponent has a cold shooting night).
That being said, I believe that the zone defense is a tool to be used when you need to change the momentum or pace of the game. I have been hoping that we would see this defense deployed occasionally under KD, but I’m not holding out much hope. I think the roster is there this year (tall and athletic) to effectively use situationally.
Re: Zone Defense in Today’s College Basketball
Saw some stat guy on twitter say Dukes will have top 5 offense and defense in the A10 this year, and predicted a 24-7 record.

Would also like to see a zone defense of any kind deployed now and again.
