Offline Unfortunately, I didn't save the Tweet ,but former Duke standout Billy Clark recently tweeted regarding Duquesne's ongoing failure to keep in contact and bring back basketball alums. I absolutely agree with Bill, that Duquesne's efforts in this area are very poor and the AD needs to get moving. Any successful program has strong contacts with their alumni players. Guys like Bill Clark and Dame Saunders were outstanding at Duquesne and should be made to feel that they are still a part of the program. There are of course many other notable Dukes who deserve to be included in the ongoing progress of the Dukes. This should be a major part of someone's job in the Athletic Department, not just a one-time lame attempt at bringing in players for one game. I would suggest spending more time on keeping in touch with our valued alumni players and maybe less time hosting tournament games for the NCAA. Do a weekly news letter about old timers, injury updates what to look forward to in the upcoming season, recap games during the season, summarize the season and so forth. To keep fans updated, educate non Duquesne fans, keep in touch with former players and alumni. To have someone do this, replace a buy game and give the person a decent salary. Offline This is a reflection on a lack of strategy and execution. I work in a leadership role at a large health system and know the complexities of customer relationship management. It’s not very hard to look back at the rosters and begin to create a community if you put in the effort for DuQ. I think that many present-day Dukes fans would like to see some type of regular newsletter or update vial email focusing on the post basketball careers of our basketball alumni. I'm not trying to attack anyone, but this lack of alumni outreach has gone on for far too long at Duquesne. For a Unviversity that sells it's family atmosphere, it seems odd that after players graduate, they are seemingly no longer part of the "family".

I also swam at Duquesne back in the late 1990s and the current coach has an email blast that goes to all former swimmers (even male athletes) where the program was eliminated in prior years. That takes effort and caring and intention. It’s still a community of swimmers and we are all very close because of that bond. The program routinely finishes in the top of the A10 and has a good donor base of former athletes.
