Offline Necas is going to take the A10 by storm this year. He came on the second half of last season, and then exploded in the A10 & NCAA Tournaments. His highlights of the FIBA U20 Tournament this summer is shown below. At 6'11", even though listed at 6'7", his skill sets for a big man are off the chart. I know I am biased, but I believe he has the potential to be an NBA draft pick. Offline CLK, I almost had a heart attack because I thought I read Necas broke something and is out for the season! Offline Am I sensing some uncharacteristic sarcasm CLK?!? Offline CLK, I almost had a heart attack because I thought I read Necas broke something and is out for the season! Sorry, poor wording on my part. Yes I can now see how that can cause some anxiety. I should have said breakout season. 😃 Offline Am I sensing some uncharacteristic sarcasm CLK?!? Let me clarify. No sarcasm. I believe, as well many people, that Jakub's listed height of 6'8" is under stated. He looks to me to be closer to 6'11" than 6'8" based on photos with his teammates. Many posters on this board have discussed that previously. Actually, if you think that he is still is still 6'8: then go ahead and enjoy your chuckle. In the photo below he is standing next to Hronsky who is also listed at 6'8" Do they look to be the same height to you? Last edited by CLK (8/21/2024 3:43 pm) Offline I think Necas is going to be a star, hes at least 6-8,has the skills of a guard, handles the ball well, good passer, Might be the greatest player ever at Duquesne by his senior year. I just dont know how we can keep him here because of all the money coming his way in NIL from the big schools.2024-25 A 10 champs. Offline If Dru Joyve can coach we are entering the golden era of Duquesne University basketball.Dru wont be here very long.He will be coaching in Big TEN in 3 years. Offline There Will Be No Riskin If You Call Joe Ziskin Or Dru Joyce, Hazel17866.dial This Number And Do It Quick.duquesne Is On A Roll. I know I am biased, but I believe he has the potential to be an NBA draft pick. I don’t see the benefit of Duquesne listing Necas at a shorter height but who knows. In that pic, though, Necas is clearly standing closer to the camera than Hronsky so he would seem taller. Dixon is listed at 6’9” and the 2 of them are very similar. Dixon standing further back though. I was not being sarcastic CLK - I really didn’t know if you were joking or not. 6’11” seems ludicrous to me so I thought you may have been making a joke. But maybe he is that tall, I’ve certainly been wrong before. Offline Couldn't agree more CLK. As you know I said it myself quite a few times this past year on this board. Necas will be a first round NBA draft pick whether after next season, or hopefully after two or seasons. The guy is AT LEAST 6-10 and if not 6-11 from all the videos i've seen comparing him to guys he's played against that are listed taller. Let's not forget Hronsky, this is a guy who can play multiple positions and may be a 6-9 guard/small forward with similar talent as Necas has. They thrive together. These two along with transfers Dinkins, Corbett, Williams, Edwards, Wilborn, Hall, and Crawford, and layovers DiMichelle, Dixon, Barre, and Rozier. I know I missed a couple others, but this team is LOADED with talent and will get back to the dance and advance farther. No doubt in my mind. Go Dukes! Offline CLK NECAS 6”7 or 6”11 who cares according to Styles he competed against High School players. 😂I out of respect for your passion towards this board I will avoid my rather frank comments. I will not responde accordingly.. Trust me this is very difficult. Long live this board. Last edited by Ironduke81 (8/21/2024 6:58 pm) Offline Every player's height is exaggerated by at least 2 inches. Never believe the listed heights. I was told by my assistant HS BB coach that I was 3 inches taller than I actually was at the time. When I said that I'm not 6'7" he in no uncertain terms told me that "You don't tell me how tall you are, I tell YOU how tall YOU are!" Never believe what you see in photos of players standing what seems to be beside each other. The camera angle easily distorts heights. I have a photo from PJ's graduation party where I'm standing with Stew and one of his Murray State teammates. From this photo where it seems we're all side by side it looks like I'm 2 inches taller than Stew but actually he's 2 inches taller than me. But I'm just a few inches closer to the photographer so it looks like I'm the tallest of the three. As our old friend the professional photographer duq81 used to say - a good photographer is one who knows how to make the camera lie. That's why he was able to make so much money taking portraits of pretty women. Offline The original purpose of my post was to comment on how much Jakub has progress, not to debate his actual height. We will all see soon enough of he has had a growth spurt. The video I posted is one of many I have seen from posters on Twitter and thought I would share it here. Offline I'm also looking forward to seeing how much progress he has made and I'm also feeling very optimistic. He and Dixon could be a real force on the floor together for major minutes this coming season. Offline Coming into the A10 Tournament Necas was our secret weapon. This season he won't be much of a secret anymore. I am super excited to see how he develops! Offline There is a lot to like about Jakub and much to be excited about as he enters his sophomore year. The most intriguing thing to me is the fact that he has shown that he can defend smaller players (small forwards and shooting guards) and do a decent job of stopping ball penetration (and if beat, can recover with altering/blocking shots). This will allow the Dukes to deploy a very tall lineup which will cause some matchup nightmares for the Dukes opponents. Offline Jakub Necus is our ....."Unicorn"... !!! Last edited by CalDuke (8/22/2024 5:02 pm) Offline This is an golden time to be a Duquesne basketball fan.Cant wait till November 4th as Dukes turning the clock back to a time when Steel was king and the Dukes played their home games in the vibrant city of MCKEESPORT. Offline V-i-c-t-o-r-y Thats The Duquesne Battle Cry! Offline Call me delusional or blasphemous ... but I see a little bit of "Larry Bird" in Necus...a competitive edge that he has in common with Larry "Legend"... a fearless determination...Necus would also be wise to study and emulate Larry's game....as much as possible. Last edited by CalDuke (8/22/2024 7:53 pm) Offline Ran into my friend Terry Driscoll former AD at William & Mary. Terry played for BC . MVP NIT 1969. 2nd overall pick NBA draft. Great & humble guy. Later played in Europe. Great perspective as to the NBA coaches vacationing in Europe for the summers funded by the NBA. These coaches would invite the Euro coaches to teach the basics & game. Obviously, looking at the current state of the NBA this plan has worked. Last week I sent Terry CLK’s video of Nacas.I asked him what he thought of the 19 year old kid. His response was WOW! You don’t have to sell me on this kid. NBA in his future if he stays healthy. I then asked him about the competition on video against his Necas opponents. His response was “ did you watch the Olympics?” Go Dukes Offline He looks like a stronger version of Mickey Davis. The golden era of Duquesne basketball started last season and it looks like Duquesne is going back to the 1950s.I think that BYU coach tried luring Necas to Kentucky Offline There isnt a day goes by that I dont watch the Dukes games from last season on youtube. How sweet it was and the future oozes greatness this year.Favorite game is watching us suffocate Dayton. Offline I think Necas is going to be a star, hes at least 6-8,has the skills of a guard, handles the ball well, good passer, Might be the greatest player ever at Duquesne by his senior year. I just dont know how we can keep him here because of all the money coming his way in NIL from the big schools.2024-25 A 10 champs. Necas plays taller than his height. He can elevate. Something heavy big guys can't do. I too think he is taller than 6'8", but no matter what, inside at rim, he plays like he is 6'11". And he hits 3's 2 out of 3 times from beyond the arch.this summer. Dixon and Necas in the second half against BYU took it to them. I can't wait to see those two on the court this fall.

I know there has been a theme on this board that Necas has, unsubstantiatedly, grown taller than his listed height - where is that coming from anyway - but surely you do not believe he is 6’11”? I’m trying to read what is harder to believe: CLK being sarcastic or CLK believing Necas is 6’11”.
Either way, thanks for giving me a chuckle in this long summer of basketball discontent.

I think Dru’s biggest challenge will be adapting to the skills of his players. I hope he does not try to play an inside out game if the talent doesn’t dictate it. It looks like we have shooters and athletes. And potentially a lot of size to guard the perimeter. I’d like to see a more pro style offense. No need to slow the game down with a lot of post play. Guys like Necas and Dixon are too athletic to plod.

CLK, I agree that Jakub does have the potential to be a NBA draft pick, if he keeps developing and can stay injury free. It's gonna be fun to watch this year.
Re: Necas - Break Out Season Ahead
He is our Wembanyama and Jokic rolled into one...a "Versatile and Dynamic" player.
Your Spot On ...PhoenixRising....his unique combination physical skills with his size allows him to play different and multiple roles....also his shooting will only get better...silky smooth shot and never seems rushed... The sky's the limit with our "Dude" Necus!!!
Go Dukes !!!
