Duquesne KenPom -7, Haslametrics -16, BartTorvik -8 since 11/3

This isn’t a true home and home agreement as this is a neutral site game, but the Dukes lost to Princeton Nov 15, 2023 at home 70-67. Guard Xaivian Lee scored 20 on us last year and is still on the Tigers, leading them to their win Monday over Iona with 27 points. Cadan Pierce, a 6’7 Forward, started and dropped 6 points last year against the Dukes. He just put up 18 with 9 rebounds and 6 assists vs. Iona. Thankfully the leading scorer for the Tigers in the last matchup, Matt Allocco, is now on Notre Dame.

Box Score 11/15/23: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401587166

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

Great job BluffHunter. I just wish I liked what it said better. Of course the offense isn’t the same, but after getting burned by multiple backdoors by Lipscomb I’m terrified of facing a team like Princeton. This will be a good early test of Dru’s acumen.

Fan Duel Duquesne 5.5 plus. Vegas must know something. I don’t see that big of a spread BUT it’s called gambling😂

These predictions will change as the Dukes beat these teams, so predictions don't mattered. Winning changes everything. The team came out that first game and looked too tight.  This game, stay loose, take the open shots, play lockdown defense, then we win. Go Dukes.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

If we play like we did in the first half, we are getting smashed. If we play like we did in the second half, we should be competitive.

Lipscomb was ranked something like #23 in those preseason mid major rankings, I think Princeton was #3.

The weird thing about the Lipscomb game is I thought our offense looked better in the first half. Obviously the shots weren’t falling, but we were getting good looks. When they switched to a zone sometime in the second we looked clueless on how to attack it, but some shots started dropping.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

Thanks again Bluff. Any idea when we should be getting underway? I didn’t watch the first game.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

Obviously a long way to go, but I like the improvement from game one. Defense has been much better early. Offense doesn’t look great, but it’s been enough so far. Winborn is anything but a traditional sixth man, but he seems to light a spark every time he comes in.

Agree with all of this. Impressed by the progress we’ve made from game 1 to game 2.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

As I said earlier I was terrified by this matchup, but credit the coaching staff for major adjustments in not much time. Princeton certainly isn’t going away, but we’ve been the better team so far and I still don’t think we’ve seen anything close to the best this team has to offer.

Good D, just need to put the ball in the hoop more.

Don't let the refs back in this game.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

Edwards, Corbett and Dinkins need to play within the team concept. No hero ball needed. Each is a good player but looking for shots instead of team ball is what they need to learn for the team to succeed.

Edwards 0 of 10 is rough. Hope he finds his shot

So far Maximus has hurt us more than he has helped. Only 2 games…

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

The announcers said it best, that for most of this game Duquesne was the better team. Two tough teams to start the season. We had this for most of this game. A couple of lucky three for Princeton late was the difference.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

Refs certainly did the Dukes no favors here, however they better start improving on their foul shooting if they want to consistantly win.   And the the 3 point shooting needs to improve as well.

Good effort on defense.

Re: Game Thread - Princeton Tigers

The foul shooting could ruin this season as Dukes dont have the automatic Dae Dae and a pretty good shooter in Jimmy.
