Defense played "Meet You at The Quarterback" most of the second half. Finished the game with 7 sacks. Were probably 4 or 5 times where the QB had to throw the ball at someone's feet to avoid more sacks. Watching the polls… North Dakota (23) and William & Mary (21) both lost. That team did it just like this one is, with defense. The Iron Dukes led the country in defense and shut out more opponents than scored on them. The Dukes wisely do not claim a national championship for the season, as the schedule was very easy. Alabama does claim to be national champs in that season however, despite losing two games including one to Mississippi State, who the Dukes beat. I'd guess the highest ever AP ranking for the Dukes would be after that season concluding win over the SEC champion Bulldogs, but don't know how high it was other than top 10. - Duquesne beats Wagner
- RMU Beats CConn
In this scenario - Dukes could lose to CConn in the last weekend and RMU wins their last game - they would have the same conf. record, with Duquesne owning the H2H tiebreaker.
Of course, the easiest thing to do is just win the rest and leave nothing to chance...
