Offline Zero joy in watching this mess. Not one player I want to see. At least Spears could go for 25 pts. there is nothing on this team, just bodies. And the offensive game plan is stupid. 5 guys outside the 3pt line? WTH is that??? 5 guys who can't shoot the three hanging outside the three point line all night. Hard to wrap your head around the stupidity of it all. Offline I just accept we are terrible.March cant get get here soon enough to end this disaster.Beyond dissappointing. Offline Barre gets clobbered underneath, no call, and Dru stands there like a statue and says nothing? Really? Wake up dude and have your teams back. I have heard it repeated several times that Dru is the type of coach that players like. But, maybe he is too soft and needs more of an edge. KD and Frank Martin sure wouldn't stand there and say nothing. They might get technicals. But, you know where they stand. Last edited by indygjm (12/03/2024 9:32 pm) Offline I'd play Amish, the kid from Brazil, etc...at this point. See what they could bring. So tired of watching Rozier, Necas (who looks like a zombie most times) out at the three point line all game doing nothing, Dixon who hasn't learned to go strong to the hoop, etc...they all seem so hesitant and that's on the coach and his staff. The transfers just look lazy by their body language. No toughness or drive. Sit them and play kids who give a (profanity). You have nothing to lose because you aren't winning anything with this sorry ass bunch. Barre, Hronsky, Dimchele, and Wilborn. Those guys have at least tried. The second year the hope is he learned from the first year. The third year, if it’s not strong then folks will want a change. But 3 years is a way off. Look at the rope Pitt gave their men’s coach. Online! Just an observation, but the Dukes played well enough on defense to win again, if they could every find any offense. No transition game at all, even though St.Pete pressed our inbound and we beat it every time, we took our time getting it down court to set up our very bad half-court. Heck, beat the press and get it up the court fast and drive the lane to the hoop before they can set their D. I'd like to see this team try to score in transition, mainly because it scores fast points, pushes the pace, and our current half court game sucks. And once again, we missed enough FT's to win. Some improvement this game but still too many misses. Look at the rope Pitt gave their men’s coach. Capel had experience at big time programs, and while he cheated at Okla, he won(helped having Blake Griffin), and is was making more than Dru is his first couple years. Maybe Dru is just not a head coach, like Darrelle Porter. Or maybe he needs a season to learn. DU is no position to move on from him. So we will have to wait and see. Yes, it will be rough. Worst part might be how do you recruit off a 3 to 6 win season? Offline Just an observation, but the Dukes played well enough on defense to win again, if they could every find any offense. Chabi is proving to be good at cleaning up a miss and putting it back. Need to start improving the transition game. FTs are infuriating. Offline We currently have 4 scholarship players out with injuries: Jake, Eli, Wiliams and Hall. Does anyone know the status of these players? I had heard that both Williams & Hall may redshirt but not heard it officially. Offline We currently have 4 scholarship players out with injuries: Jake, Eli, Wiliams and Hall. Does anyone know the status of these players? I had heard that both Williams & Hall may redshirt but not heard it officially. They sure keep injury info very close to the vest, CLK. Has been that way for quite a while. I’m surprised that one of the reporters covering the team (and the Dukes do have coverage) have not been able to provide any info. He made it look easy. I'm betting if any of these kids get the green light to push it to the hoop anytime the opponents defense is still back-peddling our game score can move up into the 70's . Both Necas and Hronsky do that euro-step and it side steps defenders setting up to draw a charge. I'd like to see some pace on offense. Last year I watched Dixon post up for a screen with 5 seconds left he decided, with his back to his defender, he turned and drove up the right of the paint and bank it in. He beat his man to the hoop and I think he can do that nearly every time. This last game with their defense spread to protect the perimeter, that's the time to drive the lane. Online! Just another observation, but we are thin on point, and a bit undersized. Turning to a more fast pace transition team doesn't depend that much on a point guard to run, also, playing defense does not depend on a point guard to work? The only time a point guard is crucial is in a slow set half-court game. And a set half-court game really needs a Clark or an Aaron Jackson type of player to work, because those kind of players posses , great court vision, can always beat his man, so often, that they to give him space, and, especially, when the shot clock is down to seconds, a good point guard can dribble drive to the hoop or pull up for a quick 2. , A very good point can make his own space to shoot anytime in the game. We don't have that, maybe Dinkins can or, at this point, Jake can. Bottom line. We need to find some offense to put up around 70-75 points a game. If we can, then our present defensive effort would have won most of these games. It's simple, up to this point, the coaching staff is holding back the natural offensive talent that all these kids have, in an effort to run a very bad half-court game. This over coaching of half-court looks so much like KD's, I really thought Coach Dru would let these kids run a high scoring style of offense. At 1-7, open up the offense. Dru is showing that KDesque substitution pattern that is infuriating. He pulls guys when they are playing well and continues to play guys who are performing terribly.
Finally, with Jake on the bench, this team has no secondary options at guard. Kareem will need to play 30 minutes. I thought when this team was recruited we were shallow at guard but this is scarier than I foresaw.

Also, it was really a disappointing performance by Tre Dinkins last night. Playing against an old conference foe, it seemed like St. Peter’s knew how to shut him down or the St. Peter’s team was in Tre’s head. It was magnified by not having Jake to replace him.
