I wish him the best a true leader who was a great representative of DU basketball! Wish him well and nothing but the best for Kareem. Such a great representative of Duquesne University and their Men's Basketball Team. The wife and I were able to meet him in person in Omaha after their BYU win and he was so gracious and took a picture with us. Just a great person. I hate seeing Rozier leave, because his team leadership is going to be missed. Yes, his size was a problem at times this year, but I like his overall game and ability to knock down the open 3 when he took it. He will be missed next year, but I hope he lands somewhere that allows him to continue to flourish on the court. Best of luck to Kareem! Last edited by DU90 (3/24/2025 9:00 am) No surprise here. All the BS shade thrown his way. Oh well, Duquesne will miss his great leadership and skills, and wish him the very best on his future, Tough kid and a great player, Last edited by PrinceOf Pilsner (3/24/2025 9:06 am) He did good here, was part of a team that folks might remember for another 40 years. Also, glad he did it right away. Now he, and Duquesne, can plan their courses accordingly. He did good here, was part of a team that folks might remember for another 40 years. Also, glad he did it right away. Now he, and Duquesne, can plan their courses accordingly. Agreed - Kareem was at his very best the 2nd half of last season providing all the little things a 6th/7th man needs to do. Playing 12-15 mins a game he was a very nice 3 point shooter and energy guy who always seemed to grab a rebound, snatch a loose ball, and pester a tiring opponent. The type of player every team needs. Unfortunately, this season, he was forced into a role not suited for him. He is going to take his wealth of experience and leadership to a lower tiered program and just might be the asset they need to put them over the top. I would not be surprised to see Kareem in the NCAA tournament next year running point for a 15/16 seed after winning their conference tournament. I too got to meet Kareem in Brooklyn last year and got my picture taken with him on the court holding the trophy (wish I could post pics in this forum). He was a really nice kid who understood what it meant to be an ambassador for the University and a role model for the kids. I really really wish he could have maintained the role he had last season. Just an unfortunate roster quandary and he was the collateral damage. Well since the portal is now open I have a couple thoughts. Well since the portal is now open I have a couple thoughts. I think there has to be a true, seasoned 4th or 5th year PG we can find get from the portal to complement our front court and Dinkins at the 2. Dixon, Wilborn, and Necas returning (hopefully) give us a nice big set of 4s and 5s that will not be outmatched in the A-10. Adding another true big man would be a nice luxury. Then just get a 3 who can attack the rim and hit 3s. With Max retuning and Jake, I think we’d have a solid team I love Kareem for what he did for last years team, but I think this move is in the best interest for both himself and the team. I viewed him as a liability for more of the year, and coach gave him way too much playing time. I too met him in Omaha. After the loss, I told him I thought he was the heart and soul of the team. Hugged. Just from a leadership perspective, this is a terrible loss. I have never bought into the leadership thing with Kareem. This year's team had 2 long losing streaks & at least 5 in-game meltdowns. Did he lead them into those results? I have never bought into the leadership thing with Kareem. This year's team had 2 long losing streaks & at least 5 in-game meltdowns. Did he lead them into those results? I agree. KD might have liked Roziers voice in practice and in games, but most coaches don't. Especially, when none of it made a winning season. When the season was this bad, good coaches more forward in a different direction. Finding a good point guard is vital to next season. I wish Rozier the best, because he tries his best. Well a lot of posters here will get what they wanted I guess. I agree with the general sentiment that he played too much this year, but I hate to see him go. I agree with Mike that he was the heart and soul of the team. For all the crap he took on this board you can’t dispute his stats. It’s tough to find a guy with a 3-1 assist to turnover ratio. Admittedly that was a lot higher earlier in the season. It was barely 1.5-1 over the last 10 games. I appreciate everything he gave to the program over the past three years and wish him the best wherever he goes. He’ll always be a Duke to me. So who would upset the whole board if they left? Wilborn, Necas, Crawford, Dixon, Jake????? Last edited by townsonkid (3/25/2025 11:38 am) So who would upset the whole board if they left? Wilborn, Necas, Crawford, Dixon, Jake????? All good questions. Wilborn is number 1 on my list of hopeful returnees. Then Jake. Then Max. I can’t imagine Dixon would leave but you never know - I just haven’t considered that. I’d like to say I want Jakub to return but he never got into a good flow all season - plenty of time to do so. He may flourish somewhere else so, for his sake, it might be better to move on. I’d like to have him back though. -Dinkins (too late/I have good intel that the Bonnies are all over him) So who would upset the whole board if they left? Wilborn, Necas, Crawford, Dixon, Jake????? -Dinkins (too late/I have good intel that the Bonnies are all over him) So who would upset the whole board if they left? Wilborn, Necas, Crawford, Dixon, Jake????? I wasn’t surprised Dinkins left. He is older, and deserves to try to make some money whether that is professionally or through NIL. But if that is with St. Bonaventure… I will not be happy. General Thoughts General Thoughts With Dinkins gone now, along with Hronsky, and Rozier, I can see Max and Crawford getting way more time even with Jake getting healthy. Wilborn, Necas, and Dixon, all together make this the team to be on, so I hope they know that too. Any of them more on would be a big mistake on their part. Right now for these guys, this a very solid core. If a Power school offered me $250,000 to play for them, I don't think that would be a "big mistake" in transferring. If a Power school offered me $250,000 to play for them, I don't think that would be a "big mistake" in transferring. Jalen Haynes, the big boy for GMU, just entered. He’s the first one I’ve seen from the all-A10 first team to jump in the portal.

I know a lot of board members will now get wish for a taller PG. I definitely agree this is needed!
I say get a talented experienced PG from portal and a top notch freshman to groom for playing time as back up and future starter!

Re: Kareem Rozier Enters the Transfer Portal
On the basketball side, I think it will be good for both Duquesne and Kareem. We have all discussed his shortcomings. If he could have been a better driver to the hoop or a knockdown shooter it would have helped.
We knew some players were going to enter the portal. I am excited to see what is out there for a big, experienced PG.
Does anyone know if Brandan Hall is a PG?

Re: Kareem Rozier Enters the Transfer Portal
FYI, it looks to me that Brandon Hall is more of a shooting guard, not a true PG. I love his size at 6-4 and look forward seeing what he can do next year.

1. How many additional roster members will leave?
My guess is 2 or more. And for respect of those
Player’s I am not going to speculate on names.
2. If those 2 or more leave my request is for a true Center 6-10 or bigger, a small forward who can attack the rim but still shoot 3’s and a power forward who plays with back to basket! And most importantly a true Bigger PG. These would preferably be portal additions.
This is of course assuming Dinkins comes back and we get Lawson.
A lot of wishful hopefuls!

I hope Dixon, Necas, and Wilborn all stay, and I'll feel pretty good about next years squad.

Re: Kareem Rozier Enters the Transfer Portal
Last year's team hit it's stride when his role was diminished. That tells me something.
Kareem loved the spotlight. He regularly referred to his teammates as "my guys" & the team as "my team". Made me want to puke. I also grew weary of seeing him rip other players for being out of position on defense while being guilty of the same errors. Leadership is seldom present in the loudest voice.
He had grit & played very hard. For me, those were his best qualities.
Great leaders are integral to great results. This year's results weren't even good ergo....

Does that guy from RMU who was DPOY in Horizon league, does he catch Joyce's eye, or do you think he is going to a bigger program?
When would they know if Dinkins can come back, and would he?,,,updated, he left via portal.

Re: Kareem Rozier Enters the Transfer Portal
-I don't want anyone who isn't in the portal yet, to leave. However, it's not like we were a good team last year who did well in the A-10 or went to the NIT or NCAA. So I really don't think it will significantly hurt a team that didn't do very well anyhow.
-But again, a good nucleus is Max, Wilborn, Jake, Cam, Necas, Dixon, Dinkins...in no particular order
-Someone mentioned in another post that Dru needs to bring in a really good assistant. I don't think any of us can judge how good they are or will be (including Dru) since this was the first year they all worked together.
