As I did for the Men's Team - I decided to create a Thread to Track the Women's Roster. I hoped by waiting a few days after the Portal Deadline all of the departures would be known and we could focus on the additions needed. Given Andjela's departure today I'm going to go ahead and post. As A COURTESY please use this thread for NUMBERS only. With 15 available slots below I have 12 players which would make 3 spots available. Feel free with any corrections. Last edited by SkepticAl (4/24/2025 6:37 pm) Looks like 1 Freshman, 9 Sophomores and 2 Juniors. Young team. Way to inexperienced and not true point guard on the roster. Maybe the men’s and women’s coaches can both go point guard shopping. Both are in dire need of one. The two newest additions take us to 14 players on the roster, which means only one available scholarship to offer because there are no seniors or players who will have to exit due to expiring eligibility. Anyone recall when Karis Thomas was on a morning show {I believe it wasn't a local station) displaying her ballhandling skills that she said she would like to attend Connecticut or Duquesne. I think she was a grade schooler at that time. I'm pretty sure she got into a globetrotter game back then. This forum is hosted for free by Boardhost. Create your own free forum!

Also, no mention of the players that Burt mentiond a month ago in a radio interview. If I am not mistaken, he said we were getting a top-shooter from an African country who was 6-6. Granted, the official roster has not been finalized, but with 3 spots left, we need at least one true point guard and one that is successful at dribble penetration.

Re: Present Roster
Looks like only one offer to be available, unless Kellie McConnell is not on full scholarship. Kellie is the daughter of Sherri Hannan, a former Duquesne PG. As much as the McConnell name means to Duquesne women's basketball, Kellie is not a DI-caliber player. On the floor this year, she lacked the size and confidence to be a true contriutor. She was not a starter until her senior season in high school and was not even the best player on her team. I have no doubt that Kellie is an outstanding person/student/teammate, but in the highly competitive environment of women's basketball, she does not merit a full scholarship and is better suited to DII or DIII level. If she were to have been at either level last year and excelled, then I would certainly be all in for her to make the jump to Duquesne, because she will have proven that she can compete...unlike what I saw last year when she was overwhelmed when on the floor with her lack of athleticisim and size.
That being said, if we sign two players in the fall, it could very well mean that someone is not on scholarship and is actually a PWO (preferred walk-on).
I am hoping Karis Thomas from Shady Side Academy will be our recruit this fall.
