Vanessa Abel Departs for St.John’s
Did anyone else notice a post I saw recently regarding Vanessa leaving the Duquesne Coaching Staff to take an Asst Coaching job at St. John’s? This seems like a significant loss for the Dukes staff.

They do not announce staff departures. Women lax team coach fired last year. No announcement. Women’s soccer coach fired after this season. No announcement. They will announce if a new coach arrives.
I imagine she will be Duq WBB’s next head coach some day. Sometimes you have to leave to come
back. Good luck to her.

The increased visibility at a Power 5 school should work in her favor as far as eventually getting the opportunity to run her own program goes.

I don’t see how the Big East can call itself a “Power Conference” when they don’t play football. This will gradually change. Football is king in terms of classifying a “Power Conference. They can fool themselves but the Power lies in the hands of the Big Ten and SEC. Follow the money!

St. John’s has a billionaire benefactor funding the NIL for their sports. That is why Pitino is there on men’s side.
