NEWS: Greek center Dimitrios Ntapsis has committed to Duquesne in the class of 2026, agent Tom Angelakis told DraftExpress.
The 7-foot, 280-pound Veritas Prep product was Greece's starting center at the FIBA U18 Eurobasket this past summer.

I like the Eastern European pipeline we seem to have. There is a ton of talent in that area. I like what I saw on the videos of him in the recruiting thread. I thought the 6’10” listed there was questionable though. If he’s 7’ then there’s a lot more 7 footers than I thought.

I think this is great news, although I would definitely like to see some recent full game video to learn more about him.
Spending a post-grad year in the US at Veritas will likely pay dividends through greater exposure to American culture & basketball before he hits The Bluff next summer. That is a well regarded program with serious coaches playing top competition.

I like that this kid wants to come to DU. Dru played in Europe for 12 years. He has a good understanding of these kids. No college in Europe has team sports like America. These kids really can only develop by coming to the US. This is a very good pickup.

This is no longer the prevailing opinion on European players. Plenty have skipped the American college experience in favor of the semi-pro/professional development programs of their home continent, Overtime Elite, and the ABL. It's hard to argue that Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Wemby,Sengun,Porzingis,Gobert,Zubac, Avdija, Risacher, Sarr, Buzelis, & dozens of others would have been better off playing a few years of US grassroots & NCAA basketball for developmental purposes.

phil95, so spot on. Since so many US players rely on AAU and prep schools as their stepping stone to college, I wonder why it wouldn’t benefit post HS players to go to Europe for a year or two to get coached up on fundamentals and team basketball (learn how to set a screen, run off of a screen, move correctly without the ball, box out, etc etc).

Do you think that the change in paying college players now may have more impact than staying home in Europe for top players going forward?
