This should be a nice test against an ACC school prior to the season beginning in 3 weeks.Go Dukes

Ironduke81, isn’t the scrimmage next Saturday 10/25? That’s what I am seeing on the Hokies official website.

Next weekend.

I know it's exhibition but Villanova ( future opponent) destroyed VCU.
How do we read these results ?
Also do we experiment with multiple guys playing or try to develop the starters and 6/8 men?

I'm 99% certain that there will be no streaming video or audio broadcast of this "game". You can follow allong with live stats here:
This exhibition will give us a peek at how the Dukes match up with a top projected 75 team competing in the ACC.

Who gets tossed from an exhibition game?

Watching. The backcourt looks solid with Guinyard and Jimmy Williams. Max and Cam getting a lot of PT as is Necas.

An exhibition win is better than an exhibition loss. Go Dukes.

I love the D down the stretch. This team fought for that win. Clearly wanted it more. Great sign. And TG with a big late 3!

Color me impressed. Clawed back for it without Hughley or Dimichele. I think I'm going to like these guards. I love the press defense too.

Wow incredible win exhibition or not!
Sign of good things to come!
Thanks Dru and Dukes!

Our backcourt of Jimmie and Terrence each had 21 points. As a friend of mine said they are going to be a problem for the A10. Go Dukes!

I'm not on X, so I was just watching the stats, but consider me very pleasantly surprised. It looks like Guinyard and Jimmie Williams had huge games and especially down the stretch. I know it's just an exhibition, but you've got to love the killer instinct to make a 17-6 in the last 5 minutes to beat an ACC team by 2. I'm trying hard not to get too excited about an exhibition, but this one will definitely up my expectations for the Dukes this year.

Duquesne gets an 83-81 road exhibition win over Virginia Tech, led by 21 pts from Jimmie Williams. Tarence Guinyard finished with 21 pts, 8 rebs, and 6 asts for the Dukes, who forced 19 TOs as a team.
Ben Hammond had 22 pts for Hokies, while Toibu Lawal had 20 pts and 8 rebs.

Defense stepped up. No FG’s for VT in the last 7 minutes. Big back to back steals and converts by Necas and Dixon. A lot of positives to take away from this exhibition.

Guinyard and Williams looked awesome. Much more aggressive and fluid in the offense. Played much faster than anything we saw last year as well. Lazarus Milosevic gave some great minutes as well which I had not heard much about. Excellent all around, this has me excited.

We have to be happy with this!

Aside from Hugley's poor judgment & the crap FT shooting, this was an awesome, and dare I say, inspiring performance from our Dukes. There were so many encouraging signs.
I would be so appreciative if DU's post-game articles were as good as this one from VT.
Bring on the Purple Eagles!

Nice work by the coaching staff managing the clock, timeouts, substitutions, & strategic fouling down the stretch. Things won't always work out this well, but the players' actions looked planned, learned, & well executed.
Whether to foul with a late 3 point lead & when to do so are frequent subjects for debate. I will always believe that the extent to which the players have been prepared & execute in the moment is much more important than adopting one theory or the other. I was thrilled to see the Dukes look ready for the scenario with which they were presented & succesfully carry out the coach's plan. Progress!
