I enjoyed seeing BB again, and the podcasts. My only comment, and maybe it is just my Catholic school upbringing, but no need for excessive profanity. Hopefully you will view this as a constructive comment. You have a great product at thr G level, lose some views at the R level.

Your points are valid about my profanities that I expressed in this episode. I got carried away a bit because of my enthusiasm of attending, my first Dukes Game in 18 years. The language I used in this episode is truly, a one-off  situation and won't happen again.

In my defense however , if you guys have watched any of our previous 30 episodes, with over (30+ hours of content). You will not find a single time that we cursed or used a profanity.  I  just got carried away on this episode and I truly apolgize.

What I find interesting however, is that you chose only to comment on my use of foul language... but no comments or reactions on the actual content that was covered on the show. 

 Me thinks, you guys are (slightly) missing  ..."The Forest for the Trees"...

You are also correct that we don't talk enough about Guinyard and his contributions. I think we take him a (little bit) for granted. From the beginning of the season I stated, that Guinyard was the "Key",.. to our success or failure. He has lived up-to or exceeded my expectations. But your right we don't talk about him enough. We will do so more in the future.

The over half of the success equation, that I highlighted at the beginning of the season, was the play of Hugley. The problem is that you don't know what your going get out of Hugley, on any particular night?! One game he's playing and the next game, he's not...One game he give you 20 + points and is a dominate force inside, the next game, he totally disappears ... I don't get it ?!  What are your impressions pertaining to Hugley?

Also for thank you for sliding me a break on me using a couple of curse words in my last show. They werent even the bad one's....Anyways, I was deadbeat tired when we recorded the show.Sunday 3 PM Pacific time.This after I had attended the Dukes game in Reno the night before. That included a 3 hour car drive, either way, from Chico, CA.  So I didnt get home from the game till 1 Am and didnt got to sleep  till like 3 am... And OHHH... did I fail to mention that Sunday, Dec. 14th was my Birthday !!!....So Sunday I  woke up early 8 am and went to a Birthday Brunch in my honor. Being the producer and editor of the show, I was back home at 2pm to prepare to record the afore mentioned 30th episode. We recorded the show as scheduled at 3:30 PM....At this point, I'm Really Dragging-Butt, fueled on fumes and caffine.....But like a trooper I went thru with recording the show. You would think that after the show I'd get a break right ? You would be mistaken. Ater the show is recorded. I still have to edit and post it on Youtube, Usaually not being able to upload the edited files, till well into the next Monday morning.

Thanks you Phil 95,  for at least allowing me the oppertunity to explain myself and also to illustrate, in what goes into doing a show like this... I can be quite a tiring edevour especially because all  3 hosts, including myself have full time jobs. Were doing this for FREE....because, just like you guys....  We Love the Dukes !!!

It's good to hear a former player share his opinion on this year's team. He certainly wasn't sugar coating his evaluation of the team and players.

 BB simply spoke, of what he's seen so far,,, we try not to sugar coat anything....
  Plain and simple  "We Don't Play Good Defense"... the stat that we're ranked 323 out 350 Division I teams in the nation, for points allowed per game, is not good recipe or strategy, that will lead to any type of sustainable success.  It's folly ,  to think otherwise.....  


 

BB's comments are spot on. The Dukes defense has played horribly to date, giving up over 80 ppg. The only sugar is that the Dukes problems are mostly due to self inflicted wounds caused by sloppy play, lack of discipline and focus. It will be interesting to see how the Dukes perform after the 8 days off to practice. I am hoping that Dru used this time to get back to basics and make decisions as to who is all in, and who is not. IMHO, this 8 day stretch is a key point in how this season goes.

I wholeheartedly agree with the last 2 sentences in CLK's most recent post. My theory is that a lack of unity of purpose, camaraderie, & chemistry is what drives this team's particular struggles. Perhaps a little addition by subtraction before the conference season begins is in order. Much can be accomplished over 14 days & 2 very winnable games.

If my theory proves to have no basis in fact, it is time to BEGIN taking a hard look at the coaching staff's long-term prospects for delivering positive results. I feel good about the size, talent, & experience of the players on Dru's first 2 active rosters. I am also hopeful that the redshirting of Lawson & Jellum will turn out to have been a good choice.

The 9-13 record against D-1 competition during this regime's first 2 non-conference schedules, when coupled with a 41.5% winning percentage in the 43 contests against D-I foes they have coached to date, is a serious disappointment. 
I was not happy with last season's final results, but I did feel like the team was measurably better over the last 9 games than over the prior 23. Because of the quality of the opponents & the excellent opportunities to pull out a win or 2, my enthusiasm for the long-term viability of Dru & his staff wasn't crushed by the 3 losses to close last season. However, now when I look back at those 3 games, (particularly the implosions at St. Louis & in the tournament against SBU), I see a harbinger of this season's struggles.
