Do those having recent discussions/posts about Coach Joyce have any thoughts on this?

Online!

I think it’s probably pretty spot on.

I agree. Not a lot of NIL $, not paying for better assistant coaches. Spot on!! Though I might switch around Fordham and LaSalle.
Send a pic to the AD and President! Also, don’t believe the BS that the AD had interest from some really good coaches when Dambrot retired.
BTW, I am tired of losing to Dayton.

I think Davidson & St. Joe's could swap places on this list because of Davidson's rabid fan base, Steph Curry association/funding, & their alumni mafia that plays a giant role in running Charlotte.
Given Duquesne's home city, university size, ancient basketball tradition, & updated facilities the only reason the job is perceived as such a dog must be that the money needed to make a modern winner out of the program is the NIL & staff salary limitations mentioned above.
I am always struck by the fact that Fordham has never realized sustained success in the A-10. I think this is their 30th season in the conference. In that time I don't think they have been in NCCA Tournament or even the NIT.

If there had been interest from really good coaches the news would have leaked into the media from the schools those coaches were potentially leaving, the beat writers for those schools, the prospective coachs' agents, etc...
Plenty of people knew in February of 2024 that KD was retiring. Duquesne had a long time to recruit a promising, experienced coach to a school on a serious upswing.
I find it impossible to believe that the school was willing to put up the money to be salary competitive with at least the top 3rd of the A-10, had interest from great candidates, & decided to hire Dru instead.
FAM's BS call hits the nail on the head.

This is an outrage! Either go in with the right support structure or get out of the league altogether. Neither the Men’s or Women’s program can compete in this league without a commitment from the University.

I think the A10 may soon be a very different league. Senators are trying to influence the big east to let both Dayton and Saint Louis in. Strange times we live in.

Safe to say any positive momentum we had after our NCAA tournament run is officially evaporated. What a shame and what a waste of potential.

Crazy times indeed. glad that the dear Senators are so focused on issues of national importance. But…. Good news for the Dukes if that happens - the Dukes job ranking will go into the Too 10 from 12th ☹️
Saint Louis would be an attractive Big East candidate. Large market that is adjacent to the current Big East footprint. Don’t know if this still holds true, but Xavier has been a long standing barrier to Dayton joining the Big East (did not want to share the regional TV market).
I do believe that the NIL insanity and transfer portal are starting to take its toll on some Big East members - DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette and to a lesser extent Xavier. The cost to run a big time college program and compete in a major conference continues to skyrocket.
And with the change from President Gormley to President Dausey, who knows what the future holds for Duquesne Athletics.

Do we know what the NIL money looks like here vs. some other A-10 schools?
Would really be interesting to have some idea.
Also, what our coaching salaries for men's basketball are vs. other A-10 schools.
Very frustrating if we are going backwards with all!!
Do I want to support a program that the University isn't "all in" with?
