Very telling quote from Burt. We as coaches don’t put them in position to have more effective ways of scoring the basketball and that’s on me.

I stated this a year ago, he should have been removed after last year's 9th place finish with the best player in the conference.
A competent AD would have had enough, but we have Harper.
I said last year, by not getting rid of Burt, we delayed the inevitable for a horrific season. It is not unlikely that this team goes winless. We couldn't beat perennial doormat St. Bonaventure ON OUR OWN floor!
At this point in his career, Burt needs to go. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE in year 14 to be this bad...hope Harper is paying attention to his own coach's admission: it's on me.
Doubt it though, Harper has become part of the problem. He's been here 11 years and it is the SAME OLD DUQUESNE. When will this embarrassment of an athletic department end???

I can’t argue with your post! It sums up the problem.
Is there any hope that the new President will take an interest in moving Duquesne beyond its ongoing athletic struggle to even reach mediocrity? At this point they just waste money achieving very little.

After reading the article from On3, I’m confused that any coach especially one with so much experience in the game could have looked at this team and said “we want to press”? One thing they certainly don’t have is a lot of speed or quickness. So then you decide you want to press people? You first must be able to stay in front of the opponent!
Offensively, this is not a team that is gifted in one-on-one breakdown moves to the basket, yet I see very little direction in terms of offensive sets or movement away from the ball. It’s similar to what we’ve seen for 14-years, but now the players can’t create something from nothing.
