Napa:
If you will identify the inaccuracies in the data points and/or point out where I mentioned or discounted the 2 most meaningful wins in RE's tenure as listed in the post referenced below, I will be happy to retract it & apologize to you.

From the team records I accessed, RE's average home attendance per game was 3,008 with 2 sell-outs. KD's number was 2,254 with 0 sell-outs. (KD did have to contend with the disadvantages of both COVID & 1.5 seasons of multiple "home" courts due to the Palumbo renovation.)
In 18 years as a D-1 head coach, RE:
-Tied for 1st in the Southland Conference regular season championship & won a second outright
-Did not win a regular-season championship in the American East, Colonial, or A-10 conferences
-Did not win a conference tournament or NCAA bid at any school
-Earned 3 NIT bids as a head coach, but did not win an NIT game
-Had a losing conference record in 4 of the 6 seasons he coached in the A-10, leading to a losing in-conference record for the duration of his time as Duquesne's coach
-Had career winning percentage as a D-1 head of .511 while ecording .527 at Duquesne
-Had 28 players transfer, quit, or be removed from the team for bad behaviour in 6 seasons at Duquesne & a decade before the transfer portal existed
-Was never again hired as a head coach
I was proud of the way he represented the university, but his D-1 head coaching career was the very definition of mediocrity, he had no great success filling the arena/growing the fan base, his teams floundered in the last month of the season 4 out of 6 seasons, & deserved to be fired after underachieving in years 4, 5, & 6.

Yes, you are right in one point, but, missed my point. KD, and DJ, both along with Admin. do not know how to bring fans into the games, when no one came in the first place. I actually got to personally know Ron when he was here, mainly because as one of his fan building efforts, he had a summer picnic, to which, no one came, except, well, me. He and I not only became friends but he allowed me to e-mail him every week, back and forth, for the entire time he was here. BUT, with all of KD's Lebron's ties and now JD, with the same advantage, can not fill the COOP at all? RE didn't have anything coming in here, but, yet, beat an 8th ranked Xavier, and a 10th ranked Temple team and sell out the Polumbo 6 or 7 times and fill the Pen's arena with 6000 to 8000 fans several times. But, yes, KD did stumble into winning the A-10 which now looks like a fluke. Start thinking, just how or why did RE do so much with nothing. Also, but you forgot, Ron, with nothing, did get to the A-10 finals too. Do you want to see the COOP filled or do you want to debate that Ron didn't do a GD thing at DU when he was here? Because no one else but RE brought fans into the stands. And yes, RE is announcing HS games, but, you never knew him. I did, and I respect his devotion to the game, and his family, you don't.
Well, OK, Phil, by your twisted BS, Ron didn't beat 8th ranked Xavier, because you said so. Also, Ron didn;t fill the Polumbo, because as your twist thinking, he didn't. Also, Ron didn't beat a 10 rank Temple, though he did?? Ron didn't do anything, BUT, all of of us know he did? So, why is it so important to you to make believe Ron never actually existed? No really, you have done this over and over for the last 20 years? What the hell is your problem.

Make a thread called Reminiscing Ron Everhart. This is about the La Salle game. Which Duquesne won with a play that was #5 on SportsCenter. And somehow the conversation shifts to complaining about fans in the stands and even further.
You know Bluff, someone asked, just how or why we can fill the COOP. I was there, I actually knew Ron, he had a plan, every place to fill that place up. Then some a-hole tells me Ron didn't bring fans in? OK, I was there, believe what you want, but, the subject started with, NO ONE COMES TO THE GD GAMES?? Want answer's, I gave you them? Want PHILS fantacies, that's OK too.
And your “answer” was that there was the horrible shooting on campus, Ron recruited regular students to the team as a result, they ran an extremely unconventional style of play and rattled off a streak of wins, and people came to watch!! Of course they did, it was a national story! How about this time we just keep winning to have people show up without all the rest. Plays like last night get attention. It’s harder than ever to get people to want to spend money on your product, especially entertainment.
OK, that's fair. Yes, it's going to be very hard to get these students out of the dorms, but unless the university starts recruiting our future students that they invite to the games. Yes, For instance, I worked with co-workers that went to North Carolina and to them, to their dying day are rabid fans. Why? Because they were from a young age taught that that was their passion Really, yes. Get those kids there, have a BFD with even the Pres, and make that night so big in their minds that DU BB was their reason to go to school. Just saying.

This may be why some fans are turned off and don't feel the vibe to follow the Dukes.. This is a thread about perhaps the most exciting last 6 seconds of a game in years but in stead of talking up TG, we have to attack or defend a coach who came within 5 points of the Dukes getting to the NCAAs.
Players, potential recruits and thir families and potential fans read this page. We need to be ambassadors of the program even when we give constuctive critiques,
Start another topic if you want to disrespect a man who never got the support he should have gotten but still produced good teams.
Time to start talking about this guard combo and a win streak!! LETS GO DUKES!!

Folks pushing personal agendas has been a longtime issue for this forum. It’s understandable why many people have a specific issue with participating. We are all Dukes die-hards, and it is a shame there is such internal animosity. Either way, it’s okay to disagree… but when users personally attack each other the line is crossed. Not sure if there is a fix at this point when people begin to take things so personally.

There are 2 of us as co-administrators. This has been one of the better years for decency toward others. If folks want to “strongly” verbally fight with each other I recommend you do it in your private emails. We want to focus on basketball. Thank you.

My take: personal attacks and foul language aside, I think there’s room in this forum all kinds of debate about current team, past teams, coaches of any era, and fan involvement. Sometimes a thread gets off topic but I don’t think it’s a serious enough issue that we need to reset our paradigm. There are a few wildcards on here (and we all know who they are) that overstep the lines of good taste and debate, and a few posters who take any disagreement with their point of view very personally (we know who they are too) But I do feel the overwhelming majority of posts show a deep passion for our team and I’d hate to see that curbed.
On to Dayton tomorrow. This presents a great opportunity to announce our presence in the top 5 of the league with authority. We have a road tested, veteran group of players with something to prove facing off with a Dayton team that lacks that unbeatable image they usually carry with them. Big Dave is as confident as I’ve ever seen him. Necas and Alex will be looking to prove something. I’m very optimistic that we bully our way to a big win.

This Dayton game looks very winnable at this point and could make that 4th place finish very possible. Go Dukes.
