The Dukes beat Davidson down in North Carolina with Steph Curry in attendance. It took double overtime that night. Can they do it again at home?

AP #23 Saint Louis is in Dayton tonight, and it is not going well for them so far. Dayton leads 44-28 at half. The lead was as much as 25 at one point. Flyers look good right now.

The Dukes have to run Davidson's Friedrichsen off the 3-point line & limit his catch-and-shoot opportunities from distance. He has been shooting the lights out.
The same goes for their 6th man, Blums. He has to get loads of defensive attention as soon as he checks in.
They both hurt the Dukes at their place before getting tired in OT.
The Dukes dominated this team on the boards last time. More of the same is needed as much as getting Jimmie back on track.

Amael L'Etang went off again while outplaying Avila.

Dayton won the game? Wow, that makes the A-10 tourney more than St.L. .

Game Day! Must win game. Let's Go! Time to bounce back at home & beat Davidson! My hope after all this discussion is that the students will show the colors proudly & pack the Coop 🙏 Thw Dukes need to fight with heart, defend fiercely, and regain momentum! Dukes Up 🏀

We need Jimmie to break out of his recent funk. Jimmie Williams is the defensive spark Duquesne needs! Leading the A-10 in turnover differential at +8.4%—opponents cough it up way more with him on the floor. See stat below.
Add his 15.8 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 2.6 APG, and 1.7 SPG this season, and he's our all-around glue guy. Disruptor on D, scorer on O —key to our push. Keep balling, Jimmie! We need you!

Absolutely agree. J.Williams has got to show up like he can to beat Davidson. But that St.L.loss at Dayton was a big surprise. Because we did better on that court than St.L. I think our game there was better than we all thought it was. Let's get this win tonight. Go Dukes.

Seems like he is finally becoming who Dayton fans wanted him to be. Scary.

This is a team we have/can beat on the boards. That needs to happen. Dave HAS to stay out of foul trouble and Jimmy needs get his game back together. We defend the 3 a lot better now than in late December so I think that should continue. I’m predicting a big night for Necas. Rebounding and scoring. Need to score in the paint all night long

I would like to see Milosevic get 5 to 8 minutes tonight. Hugley does not match up well with this Davidson team.
Offline
Soooo agree. If our bigs get into foul trouble it’s over. Hugley can’t play., out of shape. Go small or go home. The referees will control this game. Go Dukes.

Decent half-time adjustments from Dru but you're never going to win when you score 50. Need to beat URI and Richmond if you even remotely have a shot at winning a game in the tourney.
What happened to Jimmie? Man, this has been a rough few games.
CC and Hugley cannot touch the court. Worthless on Defense. At least Edwards can put the ball in the hoop despite his defensive woes.
Ellis and his failed career can pack it up after next Saturday. He knows nothing about this sport and could give a damn about this school. Want to get fans in the arena, don't score 50 and don't make this guy a representative of Duquesne basketball.

Rough last 3 games... I would have liked to see Milosevic too btw. Especially since we keep getting out rebounded, and I know it's half luck, but the other half is grit. We have all these big guys and nobody wants a rebound, and nobody wants to back it down inside on offense. When we are having an off night shooting, get it to Dixon and Necas, work it inside and at least draw a foul. Necas twice had a guy on him half his size, back that thing up man and go hard to the hoop. I feel like we lost a bit of our grit during this stretch for sure. Alex usually brings his linebacker mindset to each game... need some other guys to follow suit. Arrow is pointing in the wrong direction at the wrong time, but upsetting St Louis could fix that right quick. I know Max can't play D, but maybe get him in there again because when he's on, he can bang a couple 3s. Because we won't be able to beat St Louis scoring in the 50s that's for sure.

Hard as ever to be a Duquesne basketball fan. I guess they rose up for a time, but talent will out in the end. Not gonna pick on any kid, but man are they’re weak. I cannot understand how poor this team is at rebounding. Boxing out should come, at least, from high school. Watching the ball and wondering, instead of finding a guy and assing him out? Terrible rebounding team, very low fundamentals. Oh well.

What happened to the zone D? If it was just this game I'd say the coaches didn't want to go zone against a team that can shoot the ball as well as Davidson. I was worried we made the switch too early in the season though, and that would give teams a chance to figure out how to attack the zone. Nobody really figured it out though, we've just gone away from it. I realize this three game slump has been as much on the offense as the defense, but after being really effective in the zone a few games in a row we've barely gone to it at all the last few. It's resulted in two losses and a last second win against a bad team.
The other thought I have is I really hope Jimmie isn't hurt. He hasn't just been missing shots over the last three, he's looked like a totally different player. I think we've seen that TG might be our best player, but JWill is our most important. If we're going to bust out of this funk and have any chance in March, he needs to play a big part. If it is an injury and not just a slump, that's going to be really hard.

The Dukes heads were just not in it in the first half. They outplayed Davidson in the second but nowhere near enough to make up the difference. Maybe they were looking ahead to St. Louis?
Offline
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jimmie is playing injured. It was obvious when he was fouled and hit the court hard on a layup attempt. He was clearly having an issue with his left ankle/foot. He is not the same player he was before the LaSalle game.

Disappointing game by the Dukes last night. Not only is Jimmie under performing (he had 7 pointa), but our bench had a really awful game on both sides of the ball. Crawford 0 points Huguley 0 points, DiMichele 0 points and Hall who started had 2 points in a combined 46 minutes. That is 4 of the 9 players who saw action for Duquesne. It seems, with the exception of Dixon, Alex, and Guinyard, the entire team was infected with the can't shoot bug last night. The Dukes need some chicken soup for the soul. Gut chevk time again for this team. They have proven to be resilient, but now have to ask themselves: Bounce back or bounce out?

CLK great point. Hugley no hope have a box of donuts. Crawford big disappointment. But Jake cmon man open 3’S . MR. BLUTARSKY zero point zero. The irony is the Dukes picked 9 th pre season. Just might finish at that spot.

Is Hugley out of shape? Sure. Can we question his devotion and mindset? Sure. But for a user in a Dukes fan forum to say have a box of donuts about one of Duquesne’s players is just terrible. Especially a user who was JUST warned about inappropriate personal attacks. Getting really tired of the unproductive and disrespectful comments on here. There’s a reason nobody has commented on this forum for almost a day and its comments like this. I’m pretty much on my last straw of attempting to deal with it.
“Passion” is not an excuse for disrespect to OUR OWN. You guys are adults and educated. You know right from wrong and the rules are right at the top of the page. This forum is looked at by most of the fanbase as a joke and it’s because comments like the above are exactly that. Users will be permanently banned if they are not capable of following simple instructions. This is the last warning for everybody.
Does anybody have an idea about why this is so difficult to comprehend?

I believe Necas's reduced productivity has much to do with the substitution pattern that has him subbed out at the first media timeout & then sitting for 5 minutes of game time. I realize that plan helps get the now very important Alex quality minutes with starters, but it seems to derail Jakub's momentum.
The same goes for him getting into foul trouble. That has to end. However, he has avoided major foul trouble in the last 2 games & still played less than 20 minutes after getting off to a good starts.
Maybe more time with Necas & Alex playing together would help? For me, that means less minutes for Hall and/or Cam.
At this point, Cam should not be playing unless it is to spell someone for 3 minutes or if there is serious foul trouble for TG, Jimmie, Jake, & Hall. He has averaged 13+ minutes over the last 8 games scoring a total of 20 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, connecting on 4 three pointers & playing mediocre to bad defense.
This team really needs Necas's defense, rebounding, hustle, size, & ball movement. I think the ideal combination is one where Necas Alex both play big minutes & flourish.
