I know some of my old friends on this board do not have Twitter accounts. Therefore I am going to start posting recruiting news here so you can follow what is happening.
The first big news is that Duquesne will be hosting the top Juco scorer on an official visit tomorrow through Wednesday.
There have also been several other names where Duquesne has expressed interest. Here are a couple of them.
There are allready over 500 players who have announced that they're going to enter the portal when it opens so it looks likeit may be a recordsetting year. The NCAA Division I men's basketball transfer portal officially opens on April 7, 2026, the day after the national championship game, and closes 15 days later on April 21, 2026. I have not heard of any Duquesne player who has announced that he will be entering the portal yet.
Stay tuned.

I am ready for an exciting portal season!
I think the first order of business has to be keeping Jimmie, Necas, Jake, Milosevic, Lawson, & Jellum.
I have nothing against Aekins, Bus, & Hall staying, but I don't see them as big difference makers with Jax Williams & Ntapsis coming in. If they do stay, it should be at a bargain price.
I would much rather see bigger NIL investments made to bring in 4-5 higher level transfers & the end of the bench comprised of very low cost projects/promising redshirts than having the 12-15 viable, yet impossible to accommodate players of the last 3 seasons.
Today's game doesn't allow for more than 6-8 players to remain engaged for multiple seasons because they are only interested in pay & minutes. You need a 10-11 A-10 level players to weather injuries & create positional competition. Beyond that seems more trouble & cost than it is worth. Quality is much more important than quantity!
As currently assembled, this squad is in dire need of a stud PG, a sweet-shooting 3, & an experienced center that will be considered among the top-5 in the A-10 at his position.
I am very much in favor of getting the 2nd or 3rd best player available to Duquesne at any given position if they have multiple years of eligibility remaining rather than a guaranteed 1 and done. This is particularly true for PGs. Mid-majors need more roster stability than P-5 schools because they can't break the bank year after year.
At this stage, it is unlikely that a top 75 transfer would choose Duquesne & that Duquesne could/would meet his price. I am not saying the Dukes should not try for some of these players. If this possibility should arise, 1 and dones should be pursued relentlessly.
In order to be a top 4 conference team, the best guys need to return, first-timers Jellum, Jax, & Lawson need to make significant contributions, & NIL funds must be both ample & free flowing.
High dollar & high risk prospects with similar profiles to Hugley's need not apply.
All of this assumes that TG will not return.
Sorry for the novella. I haven't made a serious post in a while.
Do you prefer we post recruiting info here or in the "Basketball Recruiting" sub-forum?

Since this is the off-season, and primary focus is rebuilding the roster for next year I think it is appropriate to post recruiting and portal news here. I think it will be the main topic of conversation until the rosters finalized. However, if the information is about future recruits then I think it should be posted in the recruiting section.
As it stands right now, we have four open scholarships. We all know that can, and will most likely change when the portal is opened.

Forgive me because I’m new, but what’s our current NIL situation look like? I can’t imagine we have too much money to keep/lure players to Duquesne

We should have a lot freed up after this year, Hugley, Dixon, Guinyard(if gone), Edwards, A Williams, Crawford were all getting something. I dont think its as simple as $X is gone now, so we can spend $X+ again, but we can certainly pay a good 2-3 players, i would hope, esp if Guinyard isnt back, and whoever else might leave.
But Duq will have to sit out on the big $ guys, let the waters settle, then pick their guys.
Hopefully dont waste $ on another Hugley, brand name, but not much of a product.

CLK I agree that recruiting for this signing/transfer portal period should just be posted here. Phil, you said that Jax Williams & Ntapsis are coming in.
Who are these guys? Did I miss some recruiting news or verbal commits?

Pete Jax Williams & Ntapsis are freshmen we signed last fall. Williams is a 6"4" pount guard and Ntapsis is a 7 footer from Greece. There is more information in the recruiting section.

Thanks CLK, now that refreshes my recollection!

This guy posted the projected the top 15 NIL spending. I think SLU and VCU may be above UCLA as they seem to be shooting for $10 MM next year.

Duquesne contacted Josh Hayes a Utah transfer, 6'6" forward.

A couple more names.

Those contract lists are always so long it’s tough to know for sure. It sounds like we could be fighting some big dogs though. Dru has done a good job handling the portal so far. I just hope Harper leaving doesn’t affect NIL and put a damper on that.

This is the offer UCONN is expected to make to Braylon Mullins, their freshman guard who hit the shot to beat Duke.
Projected Offer: UConn is expected to offer a deal designed to match or exceed the money Mullins would earn from a projected mid-1st round NBA contract, which is estimated in the $4–5 million range.
Michigan’s roster of all transfers was around $14-million this season.
Duquesne needs to find a sugar daddy or two or three to even stay relevant in the world of the A-10..

So are, just from the A10...
VCU
Dayton
George Mason
George Washington
Might as well cross him off the list. BYU, ND, A&M are checking on him too.
Somehow we need a Guinyard level player, but at forward this year. Fingers crossed.

This is getting a bit concerning and I am hoping we can sign some guys out of the portal soon. As noted, "receiving interest" is a long way off from signing someone. The Oakland team has already landed a good number of decent guys and a couple really good players. Seems to me Capel and the GM were ready for this out of the gate - especially this new GM they have. I know Pitt has more NIL money to offer, but we needed to know what the roster was going to look like heading into this coming year, and I suspect we did, but results count. Hopefully we can get some good news soon. Until the eligibility and NIL elements are addressed it is going to be hard for mid-majors to keep up. I guess we shouldn't worry though as DJ's best friend Lebron is throwing all kinds of coin our way, right Lebron (sarcasm) ??!! Keep the sneakers Lebron and send us the cash!!!! Unfortunately I hear we haven't got much from Drue's "best friend". What a joke, Lebron throwing us $500k a year is lunch money to him.

Obviously we’re a lot closer to home than the others. Hopefully that means something to the younger generation.

I don’t want to be disrespectful so I’ll “suggest” that if you want to know his past shown ability, you can find it easily. I’m not going to post it.
-April 21 is when the portal closes.
-According to some sources, Duquesne is near the middle of the pack as far as NIL money for men’s basketball
-So far, this recruiting journey for next year has been difficult.
Let’s hope things change for the better.
