Re: Richmond is next

If we go 4-0 and win the tournament, we'll be over .500 for the NCAAs.

Re: Richmond is next

They're counting it as a win already on the Richmond Rivals board.

Good for them. Let them have the message board win and give us the real one.

Re: Richmond is next

The Richmond game is the only one I left early from this year. We had no answer for them. I don't have confidence we can win this game.

Re: Richmond is next

Here is what I learned about the Princeton system and beating it.  Do precisely the same thing against them that they to to you!  Stutter weaves, back door passes, patience, patience patience.--or some forms thereof!!!

Re: Richmond is next

For what it's worth....
Pomeroy has projected a 70-67 Richmond win; giving the Dukes a 37% probability of a victory.

Re: Richmond is next

Richmond has been struggling and we've been playing our best ball lately. Maybe we can change our luck with Richmond.

Re: Richmond is next

A win would be very gratifying.. Richmond and Bonna have the most classless fans in the A-10 from what I've seen over the years at Paulumbo.

As someone who worked with our team as a manager for 4 years when Danny Nee coached and traveled to all of the away games. I would say I don't believe this to be correct. The worst fans were at GW, and Rhode Island, and actually Xavier during the Sean Miller era were really bad as well. As far as people coming to the Palumbo i mean hardly any of our fans would show up so anyone else who came were probably fanatics and maybe acted poorly. I also grew up going to St. Bonaventure games and the atmosphere at the Reilly Center is much much better than Palumbo.
Hopefully we will make it the to Big Dance in my lifetime.

Re: Richmond is next

I went to the game on Saturday at George Mason.  Some of the "gentlemen" around me were very upset with their Athletic Department.  As you know, the former coach took them to the final 4.  In his last year, he asked them for raises for his assistants and a video board to be attached under the score board above the floor.  He said he wanted to stay there but asked for these two changes.  He got neither.  He of course has already moved Miami WAY UP THERE!!!

Re: Richmond is next

In his analysis on the A-10 tourney, Pomeroy gives the Dukes a:
38.7% chance of beating Richmond
5.5% chance of beating both Richmond and then VCU
1.4% chance of winning 3 in a row
0.4% chance of winning the A-10 championship

So you're telling me there's a chance?

In all seriousness, I see the Richmond game as a coin flip game, and certainly a winnable one (better than the 38.7% that KenPom gives it, as we're playing much better basketball and teams are realizing Richmond only has three weapons without Lindsay).  I hope their team treats the game the way their fans are...

Re: Richmond is next

I think we can take Richmond. I don't know why we didn't beat them a couple of weeks ago, but I'm willing to bet that after the game the players and the coaches talked about letting one get away. They were missing a couple players and I almost wonder if there was some overconfidence. As long as the Dukes take the game as it comes to them, move the ball around, take care of the glass, and hit FTs -- and really, that's only asking them to play fundamental ball -- and not turn the ball over, then a Soko or Mason or even Colter when he's hitting give us that puncher's chance.

My gut tells me the Dukes win by double digits. My gut is pretty big, so I tend to listen to him.

Re: Richmond is next

Now it's apparent why we lost to them previously. As Danny Nee said in virtually every post game interview, "Now it's time to go back to the drawing board."
