I'm a day late and a dollar short, BUT ...

Apologies, this was all over the internet today. I'm just getting around to being able to post it. Ovie Soko was named third team all-A-10. He is the only person associated with the Duquesne men's basketball program on any of the all conference lists: http://www.atlantic10.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31600&ATCLID=209431042.

It shows that despite the big win over St. Louis, and a higher-than-expected finish in the standings, we still look like this guy to most people: http://www.e-profession.com/images/rodney_dangerfield_no_resp.jpg.

I'm rooting for a Cinderella run through the tournament. Would make us the story of the year.

To be fair though, the league had an exceptional year. Those six teams fighting for a bid had a lot of good players. In a 14 team league, guys will get overlooked.

I understand what you're saying, but to me, conference teams are a little like beauty contests judged by husbands ... couple of the old guys get together and work things out, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

That's probably true, and I doubt the coaches give it much thought if they are involved in the balloting.  I will say that Evans had a nice career for StL, but he couldn't guard Ovie if his life depended on it.  His head was so messed up by the game in Pittsburgh when he got dominated, on defense, used and shut down on offense (and also fouled out), that I think it affected him the rest of the season.   He shouldn't feel too bad though, because nobody in this league guarded Ovie successfully man-to-man all season.  Most teams ran two or three guys at him at different times only to foul him more often than not.
