Maybe an OMen??? Page 18, Sports Illustrated - Micah Mason in the Record Setters Box from Duquesne!!!! Last edited by FAM (3/13/2014 4:02 pm) Maybe an OMen??? Page 18, Sports Illustrated - Micah Mason in the Record Setters Box from Duquesne!!!! What struck me about Nesbitt's story on Mason was that the NCAA all-time leader in 3-point accuracy was someone who hit 63 percent of his attempts. 63 percent. Amazing. And a name I never heard of Western Michigan's Sean Wightman. Terrible half and not buried. Someone needs to tell Soko to follow his 3 point shots. There's gonna be a rebound so go after it. Dumb turnovers Dismal performance. They are now getting blown out, E-M-B-A-R-A-S-S-I-N-G Reverted back to early season form. No passing, no defense, bad shots, what, the whole thing. See you in November. The team has looked neither prepared nor intense tonight. What a mess. Colter 2-9 with more TOs than assists. And watch out ... I read the Ferry messages about Mason being a point guard a sign that we will not be signing someone who can help us win at the position. Next season Mason will be feeding Colter for countless clangs. Colter 2-9 with more TOs than assists. And watch out ... Next season Mason will be feeding Colter for countless clangs. Come on now you're a lifer. Hoes does Mason not score a point in this game? How do you call yourself a Division I player when you can't score ONE POINT in a tournament game. And another thing. Know why Soko was so open at the top of the key. HE CAN'T MAKE THAT SHOT. That's why the left him open. This team deserved to get blown away. Colter 2-9 with more TOs than assists. And watch out ... I stuck it out this year, same as I have every year (save for the Everhart era when I got spoiled by seeing them finish about .500 every year), but I have to see something for next year. And by something I mean a REAL point guard. Someone who gets Mason open looks. And a big man or two to step up to replace Soko. And a swingman who actually brings something to the table. Otherwise, why bother? Colter 2-9 with more TOs than assists. And watch out ... With that said, for whatever reason, their shooting was off. I have seen Soko make a number of those shots at the top of the key - they didn't fall. As I said, I went to the Mason game in VA. and DC hit a lot of those shots he missed last night. I totally agree that Micah is responsible for not getting open on some shots last night - Yes, they played him tough but "0" points!! Maybe my OMEN statement of him being in Sports Illustrated was true. He was in the magazine and scored "0" points. I tend to agree with Ferry and believe that Micah would be an excellent choice of point guard. When he is Open at Times he can take the "3". I believe he is the best passer on the team. I actually think moving him is a no brainer. Thoughts...I thought Ferry actually got outcoached last night as far as their game plan. With that said, for whatever reason, their shooting was off. I don't believe he could do that consistently against A10 competition. I have to agree with ElDuque on his critique of what is needed. Now to make matters worse, the ACC is going to wrap up the Barclay center after 2017 because our numb nuts A10 commissioner only signed a five year deal. Bring the A10 Tournament to Consul, obvious choice. Thoughts...I thought Ferry actually got outcoached last night as far as their game plan. Perhaps 5 years is all that Barclay's offered. It's not like we had tons of clout. Apparently, McGlade is trying to make the ACC play a number of games vs A10 teams. These won't be "buy" games either. Also, it may not be a case of the A 10 going somewhere else, but of moving some dates so that both events could be held in Brooklyn. Actually I thought we simply got outplayed. Richmond has a 6-8 sophomore forward who ate Ovie Soko's lunch all night and kept him shooting threes, I guess because he got tired of having shots blocked. The little 5-8 PG certainly proves you can have a little guy at the position if he "plays big." I know, I know, I'm "too tough" on Colter and "it's personal" (I don't get that one because I don't know the guy). But there we go again ... he's missing a lot of shots and we lose big. Not saying he can't play, just saying it's a position we need to upgrade. And I know I'm a little hard on Soko, but c'mon man, a 5th year senior being abused by a sophomore. Come out of the locker room at halftime looking for the ball underneath. Take it to the guy. ElDUque, Actually I thought we simply got outplayed. Come out of the locker room at halftime looking for the ball underneath. Take it to the guy. Gill showed some flashes late. I know Ferry has high hopes for him. I'd love for him to step up and take that small forward position from Jones. That would really change our look, and give us much more size. If Gill could be a consistent three point shooter, that would lessen pressure on Micah. Teams with big men who can shoot from the outside have an advantage. I agree he showed flashes and he has three more years to work on this. As to Robinson, I haven't seen him, so he is an unknown. As to Watkins, his season never took off due to injuries. So what we have inside to compliment McCoy is a big unknown. Help at guard is unquestionably a need. Hopefully we will make progress next year. This is only Ferry's second full recruiting year. Rick, the play by play guy kept repeating that Coulter has started every Duquesne game since he has been here.
Now I know why we lost 37 or 38 games in two seasons.
Maybe Jay Jones should have joined Q on that Indian Hills CC team, they are going for a National Championship run at 32-2.

If I'm Ferry, the only guys with locked-down starting jobs next year are Mason (2) and McKoy (4/5). I'm very hopeful either Robinson or a healthy Watkins starts (4/5), and that Gill gets a look at the 3, and that we get a 1 who can handle, who can attack the basket without getting shots blocked, and who gets his teammates into the flow of the game. Let Colter back up Mason for 4-5 minutes a night. That shouldn't kill us.

Re: Good Luck Tonight Dukes
You are correct about the small size thing. It's not the size of the ship but ...oh, wrong story.
Anyhow, Mass. has a guard even a little smaller than DC and he is excellent. I agree that next year it is McCoy, Mason, Gill, Robinson and ???? •
