Nzei is supposed to be good. Don't know if any studs would be available, as you said. James was a sleeper and Saunders a slipper. Guess you could get lucky that way.

Just curious why you would use the word "lesser" in comparison to Jeremiah.  He averaged 11 points a game against decent competition, I  think he would at least be considered comparable, or possibly a slight upgrade to Jeremiah in regard to scoring.  He would give us some more flexibility at the three position.

Low risk move though. Fills the empty spot, yet gives us 2 openings for the fall class.

 

 

I think there may be better options than adding someone who brings nothing to the table that you don't already have.  Other than being a body on the bench I do not see how this kid fits.  He is an undersized SF, a poor FT shooter 62%, a poor three point shooter 28%, and is prone to turnovers.  He does not have the skill set to play SG.  Unless Ferry is going to redshirt James I would hold the scholarship to see if there are any late surprises that can help this team.  If we can not land a special player during the summer, I would give the minutes to James and Gill next season to develop them at the 3 and hold an open scholarship for next season.

So he ends up going to an ACC school - and some on this board believe that he wasn't good enough or it would have been a waste for him to land at Duquesne?

This is my first post - and I realize you may view this as inflammatory - but in my experience the coaching staff knows how to evaluate talent. Doesn't mean they're going to hit every kid out of the park but they are going to do just fine given a chance.

I'm assuming that you followed Ferry at LIU. Feel free to give us your thoughts and observations about him. Some on this board are still very angry that the previous coach was fired, and have taken a very hard line towards Ferry.
 

IF you have an open roster spot and you can fill it with a one-year player, it makes sense to do so, even if you're not projecting the kid as playing that many minutes. I hope this non-signing doesn't matter much for Duquesne, and I don't think it does.

This is a player who was looking at reduced minutes at ODU and now he's going to BC. It would be nice for him if he gets a chance to play, but it doesn't seem likely he will see a lot of action. 

The idea is to fill the roster spot this year with a 5th year transfer, and still have the scholarship back next year.  If you bring in a guy for one year and he wins you a ballgame or two, it is worth it.
 
BTW, trying to practice revisionist history on Bush is hopeless.  The world knows he was an 8-year disaster.

I stand by my previous post that this kid was not a good fit (not angry, no hard line, or have anything to do with the prior coach).  Who's minutes would you have given him, at what impact to player development and morale? Micah, Stevens, Colter, Ridenour or would he play as an undersized SF? I still think there are better options for the last scholarship, including some grad transfers.  How about Justin  Martin?  I have attached the transfer list.  As of two das ago he was still available.
