Don't know how to copy and paste from one board to the other. Fell free to vist the other board and copy my summary to this board. I will say this-I am ecstatic over Jordan Robinson. Eric James will play a lot. Tysean Powell did not play-hurt- and TJ was a no-show. Offline I posted a lengthy re-cap of the two games I saw tonight at Montour. Offline Offline Offline It's good to be optimistic, but these guys still have to do it (a) when the season starts and (b) in the A-10. A couple things concern me: Offline Offline I'm a little perplexed by Stephen's assessment that some of these guys (Jeremiah, Micah) are strong defensively. Jeremiah was way out of position playing that wing spot. I think if he can spend more time in the backcourt he might be better off. Micah showed good anticipation at times but he also looked flat-footed at other times. Yes, I think we need a lot of work on defense, and unfortunately that doesn't happen in the summer leagues. That's why I'm not getting too excited about the scoring averages. When they're all back together, they'll have to find a way to share the ball, especially when the other team is actually playing defense. I hope the speed and quickness does translate into game play; it will be a big help.

McCoy as one of the best players in the league, like Soko was last year.
The newcomers not look overmatched. While I'm not counting on them for immediate major contributions, you want to see that they have the physical talent to eventually become key pieces for us.
I'd like to see Gill, and Robinson among the better players in the league.
Lastly, along with the other players doing well, I'd love to see Lewis start to look as though he could be a factor. If he could make the transformation that Gary McGhee did, Our prospects over the next few years would improve dramatically, as we would be able to put size on the floor that most of the league would have trouble dealing with.

Here are some random observations without any particular rhyme or reason. First off, it was difficult to follow who was who because numbers were assigned tonight and there were no sheets with the number matching the names of players. But I got all the old and new Dukes numbers. In PGT vs. Shale Attorney, PGT won going away for a very simple reason-they shared the ball. Jere Jones played steady if not spectacular. He did nothing to embarrass himself. Ditto with Darius Lewis. Plus Lewis was able to run the court for most of the game. He had four nice blocks and could have scored double digits if anyone would ever have passed him the ball in the second half. Bottom line- substantial improvement over last year. Rene Castro had what I would describe as an average night. He definitely has shooting skills. Dished off some pretty nice assists also. The Dukes star of this game without question was Eric James. He has three things going for him-speed, elevation and hustle. First impression is he will get some play time. Believe he had double digits with a couple of really nice follow up dunks. Did not stay for the second game because Tysean Powell had a leg injury that kept him out and the only Duke was Jordan Stevens. Stevens was 6 for 24 and had an off night according to Steve and another dukes fan. So I went to the Intermediate gym to get a look see at Jordan Robinson, Derrick Colter, Domo McKoy and Desmond Ridenauer. McKoy and Ridenauer's team had a boatload of guards and mid-size players who lit it up. Colter and Robinson's team only had six players with Derrick the only guard. Domo-as good or better than last year; Desmond-better than last year-more sure of himself; Derrick-improved and steady-had a double at lease and maybe a double-double if assists are counted; Robinson was the star of the night-had 18 points and a slew of rebounds and ran the floor extremely well. He made a variety of off the glass banks from close in and had at least three monster slams. HE IS STRONG!!! The ESPN guy who predicted he will be a 12 point and 8 boards buy for the Dukes knows his stuff. I saw Jordan last year and there is no doubt in my mind he will fill a large portion of the void created by Ovie graduating. Jordan plays at 7 Wednesday night vs. the Audi pros, Pitt and Cressler in the main gym. It would be worthwhile to see what he can do vs. top-tier talent. Didn't see Gill and Mason play.

1. Robinson's height and stamina in the post.
2. Getting true point guard play out of the point guards.
3. Consistent production from the three spot.
These could be the keys to this season.
