Game Thread Abilene Christian

This is a big game for ACU.  The Dukes need to come out strong and put them away early.  Here is the ACU coach on Duquesne,

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

This is a big game because it's on the road. If we win this, we should have at least 8 wins ooc, not counting the 3 tough games (Pitt, RMU, PSU). Grab a win or two from those 3, and we could have a really nice record at the start of league play.

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

while its easy to poke fun at this game, i dont mind the idea of the team taking a long road trip for bonding purposes and to hopefully crush a lesser opponent on their home floor. with all the new pieces on this team, it might be a fun trip to west texas. Looks like they have a cool tank museum and air force base. its really the only true road game in non con schedule( i dont consider bus rides to moon or happy valley a road trip).

While i think this is good for team building, i also wouldnt mind us taking the sacrifical lamb and quick pay check route by going to kentucky or duke(again).

But wait -- there's more! http://www.acusports.com/news/2014/11/20/MBB_1120143711.aspx

They're trying to seduce us, me thinks!

I give the team credit for going to a place where it is warm!

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

Pomeroy has the Dukes winning this one by 10 points, 70-60; with an 86% probability of a win.

Looking at some highlights from their game against Tulsa, ACU appeared shorter and slower than the Dukes. If the Dukes defend and get out on the 3 point shooters, we should be able to bring home a victory.

Certainly impressed with how many students they got out to the pep rally; wonder how they enticed or threatened them to come. Also, Moody Coliseum look s like a nice facility; doesn't appear to be a bandbox.  http://www.d2hoops.net/arenas/abilenechristian/t42/

Final tidbit - a kicker from ACU still holds the collegiate record for the longest field goal - 69 yards by Swedish kicker Ove Johansson in 1976.

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

Hope Pomeroy is a little better on the Dukes prediction than he was on the Hawaii/ESP game last night. He had ESP winning by 10 points with an 86% probability of a win.

They were threatened with eternal damnation.

ESP's loss takes care of the 14% for teams from Allegheny County this weekend.  The Dukes will win going away.

I paid 10 dollars for this game.  I really hope it ends up being worth it.

Hard to believe that Mckoy isn't in some sort of doghouse.  Lewis in before him?

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

Jordan Stevens seems legit.  He is single handedly keeping us from being embarrased.  Not impressed so far.

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

ACU scored 39 points in the game vs. Tulsa. They get 38 in the first half against us. Ugh!

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

Powell and James too. Our 6-8 walk on scored a basket in 1 minute of play. That's an average of 80 points per 40 minute game. That's the hidden stat of the day. Hope Domo is ok. We need him this year, even with the emergence of Powell and Gill.

Re: Game Thread Abilene Christian

Any road win is a good win for our young Dukes!

Came across this tweet and think anyone who watched the webcast of the game would agree:

@GreatGhostsAliv: Abilene Christians gym looks much nicer than Palumbo.

How is this possible when ACU's gym is 48 years old? Looked it up. And this is only their 2nd year in Division 1. From the looks of the new talent (Stevens, Powell, James, Castro etc) Ferry and staff are doing a great job recruiting with signicant limitations, especially given the current level of the A10!
