Offline I think one of the big issues with Ferry is his failure to settle on a shorter rotation. I know all of the arguments for having a deep bench, but I think you need to keep your best players on the floor as much as possible. I also think it's more important to keep your stars happy, than bench players. This was somewhat of an issue under RE as well, and played a role in making Bolding, and James unhappy, as they didn't like always being pulled for less talented players. Ferry is making the same mistake in my opinion, but I think while what Ron did was part of his plan, I think Ferry just can't make up his mind. No wonder his team looks confused. He needs to shorten his rotation, and stick with it. If some guys are unhappy, and decide to transfer, so be it. You just want to make sure that it's not your best guys who are leaving. You have publically stated, more eloquently, what I have believed for a considerable time Offline ive always been one for play the best guys you got and the ones that give you a chance to win. if thats 6 guys, you go with 6. if thats 10, you go with 10.
Short vs long bench

Re: Short vs long bench
I have no problem using a deeper bench in the early part of season to allow the coach to tinker with different lineups, give some guys more meaningful playing time, etc. Then go with the best during conference play and marquee matchups. Thats all good in theory esp when you are able to throttle your cupcake opponents. we have two rather embarrassing losses, so its def not working on the bluff.
I think part of problem with Ferry right now is how inconsistant guys are. Does he really have 5 quality players on the floor at any given time?
to me, the only two players who seem to have earned every minute they get and are playing pretty well are colter and lewis.
jones and ridenour arent a10 caliber players
mason and mckoy--no clue whats going on with those guys.
powell is oozing with offensive potential and i love his offensive game, but he plays penndot defense.
robinson is another guy i like and has potential, but is rusty and doesnt look to be in game shape yet
gill and stevens are so hit or miss. they could give you 20pts one night and 0 the next. not sure either is too defensive minded.
james has some potential too, but makes a lot of freshman mistakes.
id go with stevens, colter, james, powell and lewis as my starters, with mason, mckoy, robinson, and gill off the bench. rotate mason with stevens/colter, mckoy for poweel, robinson for lewis, and gill for james
