Re: Dayton on The Road

I'll be watching. I think the Dukes will give them a game. They arent very big and if Darius can give us some points and defend the tin and we don't have to many TO's I think we can hang with them.
Let's start this year off right! GO DUKES

Re: Dayton on The Road

Agree. Dayton should win by 20-25. Now if Ferry knows his teamby now because he said it takes 9-10 games then he could lose by only 15-20 ...or, JD said you need to learn how to lose before you learn how to win. If they need to learn better how to lose then it could be ablowout.

We seem to always play hard against Dayton. Last years final second loss was a heart breaker.  Had we won Dayton most likely would not have been in the NCAA.

Re: Dayton on The Road

We can win. We just can't win with the small lineup, poor shot selection, lack of defense and poor FT shooting.

Re: Dayton on The Road

I'll bet Lewis gives us next to nothing -  We've had cases where guys seemingly step up for one or two games then go backwards -  Would be his first exposure to playing a lot on the road -  I still think he's too foul prone. Early line is Dayton by 14 in the Post figure they will cover it slightly - Dayton by 18-20.  (and if I'm wrong and DU pulls the upset - WILL attend the St. Joes game - was so frustrated after the St Franny debacle that didn't use my ticket for any of the next three)

Re: Dayton on The Road

I will get it here in Fl but my first thought is 20-25 by games end and announcers talking about Ferrys turnaround, when you lose more games than the coach you took over for. BTW I found the Dukes / Richmond game from last years a-10 first round on my DVR, Dukes looked exactly the same as now, turning ball over, rebounds falling out of hands, run a stupid weave with NCAA 3 leader standing in corner, one of NCAA best drivers (Soko)  doing weave and clanking a trey with no one under neath. That's what I look for today, sadly.

Wouldn't surprise me.  If you watched any of the Ole Miss game their coach had to go small as Dayton's inside guys at 6-6 were too quick for the Ole Miss big guy who on the video looked more athletic than Lewis.  I wouldn't be surprised if he did give you little like you said.  While unlikely, there's the chance that he does step up against guys over 5 inches shorter than him too...

Re: Dayton on The Road

NBCSN is channel 30 on my Comcast system. Ferry again mentioned how young his team is in the PG article this morning. And he is still tinkering with the lineup. YAWN!

Agree with this. I watched the Dayton/Ole Miss game after the Pan Am game wrapped up. Miss employed a 2-3 zone that was very active. Dayton took advantage by feeding into the high post and then hitting cutters and/or feeding their outside shooters. They are going to put a lot of pressure on our wings, which have been our soft spot defensively.

That being said, Dayton has had some poor outside shooting performances this year, but those have generally come away from the arena. el Duque gave a solid assessment of our chances today. I don't expect the Ferry weave to be effective offensively. Hopefully the intensity and determination to rebound will be similar to that of the Pan Am game.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Every time I hear ferry say "work in progress" I am reminded of Danny Nee.

By the way, I have a Danny Nee autographed basketball.  I will sell it to anyone who makes me an acceptable offer.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Mason 0-6 late in the first half. No way we can win with him shooting like that.

We're offensively challenged so far.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Stevens and Mason a combined 0-10. There will be plenty of playing time for Castro next year.
Mason's regression is troubling. Is there a chance that his illness is affecting him?

Stevens would not play on my team.  He is a selfish ball hog.

Nobody on Duquesne can play defense.

I really don't want to see anymore JC guards.

After 40 years, I'd love to have a coach come in and say that his teams are going to rebound, and play defense. Every coach comes in with the same "we're gonna run and be exciting" bs. Modest results under RE, Carroll, and Rice, garbage under the rest.

Ferry doesn't have the slightest clue what he is doing.

agreed to both, but the later is more concerning. We switched to 2-3 zone because we couldn't guard using man to man. How do you play defense if you can't play the simplest zone? Seems to be a lot of communication issues out there.

Re: Dayton on The Road

This is a poor team. L G Gill shoots an off balance shot with 31 seconds left on shot clock, Stevens to his credit only shoots when he has the ball! 13 straight misses, 3 on lay up rebounds.

Pitt looked even worse against NC State scoring 50 and losing by 18.

Definition Breach Of Contract: Legal cause of action in which a binding agreement or bargained- for exchange is NOT honored by one or more of the parties to the contract by non-performance or interference with the other parties performance. Duquesne University minus 2 million ....GA is a joke.

LOL! Some on the Pitt board are calling for Jamie to be fired. Maybe if they wait until next year, we can get him to come here after Ferry's fired.

He is really giving Scott Edgar a run for his money as the most clueless coach we've had.
