Re: Dayton on The Road

Announcers keep quoting Ferrys young team while I am watching a senior, 3 jr and a sophomore on court for Duquesne. WTF

Fortunately on a network no one watches.

The "Brick Brothers" are now 0-13 from the floor.

Re: Dayton on The Road

I just put a paper bag over my head but with no eye holes. My wife is giving me the play-by-play. VBC I'll trade you an OOOfficial Danny Nee bobblehead for the basketball.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Not a surprise at all. As I said before the game started the question would be whether we lose by over 20 or 15-20.
QUESTION?  Was Amodio here when Nee coached here?

Re: Dayton on The Road

They finally mentioned our great legacy going back to Norm Nixon. Actually it stopped at Norm Nixon...

Re: Dayton on The Road

No we got Amodio after everyone screamed to get rid of Colleary. Amodio came from Xavier so he had a winning pedigree or something..

Re: Dayton on The Road

I wonder if Charlie is watching the next level coach?  There is nobody with any basketball IQ on this team starting with the coaching staff.  There is no visible signs of coaching on this team.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Right CLK. It starts with putting your arms up constantly when you're in a zone. I can do that even with my bad back..

Re: Dayton on The Road

I would guess that most who follow this board know where I have stood on Ron Everhart's firing and his replacement with a "next level" coach. Need I say more???

Re: Dayton on The Road

Dayton = 7 players who have bought into a system
Duquesne = 11 players wearing the same colored shirts

I wonder if Miller is still trying to "figure out his team" 12 games into the season?

Re: Dayton on The Road

Dayton brings in the Werhle kid and he's blocking shots like he's Bill Walton.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Please if you bought tickets don't use them.  I don't normally tell what to do with their money.

The only hope for any change is to embarrass them with no one there.

This is 100% correct.   Alright FAM, I'm writing a letter on Monday.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Meanwhile the women's team leads almost the entire game to lose by 1 at the end.

Re: Dayton on The Road

Well so far I havent but may go Wednesday. Would we be allowed to wear  paper bags?  Another option is to go and discuss the AD and coach while moving around to others ...the other 78 people there. I think I could stir things up pretty well. Since the AD hasn't been through such a terrible losing progrsm like this maybe he will actually care. Hey Amodio, r u mature enough to admit your hire was a huge mistake. If I do go to the game it will probably only be one out of maybe 3 I would go to. I said before that I look at my season tix purchase as a donation to the University.

Re: Dayton on The Road

BTW. Folks should also email the AD and tell him how bad the program is and the hiring mistake. I know of some folks who are also going to do this.  Some will say it wont matter. I say it will especially if they are just factual. No swearing or cussing just facts. You can also cooy these to the President. Folks,, you need to also write your letters to the sports writers.  If they get 10 letters they will acknowledge.

I would be careful doing that. They find out they will kick you out.

I'll bet Lewis gives us next to nothing -  We've had cases where guys seemingly step up for one or two games then go backwards -  Would be his first exposure to playing a lot on the road -  I still think he's too foul prone. Early line is Dayton by 14 in the Post figure they will cover it slightly - Dayton by 18-20.  (and if I'm wrong and DU pulls the upset - WILL attend the St. Joes game - was so frustrated after the St Franny debacle that didn't use my ticket for any of the next three)

Other than that one flub underneath, I thought Lewis played very well.  Nice to see some size and presence underneath.

I have said it before, Iike Lewis!

Re: Dayton on The Road

Einstein was the one who described insanity as doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

The announcers said that Ferry wanted to play man to man, like he did at LIU, but didn't have the talent, so he was forced to play 2-3!  And forced to play that 2-3 even though it was getting ripped to shreds and Dayton was getting open looks for unconstested threes!

Really Jim?  There is nothing else you can try?  You only have one defense and it doesn't work?  No match-up, no man to man, no box in one. There is nothing you can't even try in practice five weeks into an already dead season?

Either your head or Amodio's better roll at the end of this eason!

I am so tired of hearing the "we are so young" excuse.  We started a senior, three juniors and a soph.  The real problem is that Ferry and staff do a horrible job of teaching and coaching.  Also, the kids he has recruited are average at best and are not showing any evidence that they are developing the way they need to for us to be competitive.  Today's game was just a pathetic joke! There are high school teams that play better zone defence than the Dukes.  Ferry is being paid the big bucks  to "get us to the next level" you would think there would be some indication in year three that he is moving in that direction.  All we hear are excuse.

Actually, while Norm was great, we sucked while he was here too. We had one winning season with Nixon, a scintillating 14-11. We haven't actually been good since we went 20-5 in 1972. In the interim, we've had what I would call "nice teams", four times. Twice under Rice, and once each under RE, and Red Manning. Add to that 3 "decent" teams under RE, one under Carroll, and one under Satalin. That is it. In 43 years, 9 "acceptable" teams (no I don't count the 1977 team. They sucked, and got lucky when Keith Herron injured his ankle in the semis, and couldn't go in the Final.).

Lot of good that'll do you.  Mine was never responded to, and even after Dr. Dougherty's personal assistant basically guaranteed someone would.  Oh well.
