Offline Your end is in sight. Offline Who would want him? If Dougherty is smart he would fire Amodio before the tide turns on him! Offline Who would want him? If Dougherty is smart he would fire Amodio before the tide turns on him! The hoops program will never cause Dougherty to be fired. Ferry won't be fired this year, but he better start coaching like he knows he will need to win around 19-20 games next season. Get settled on a rotation, and stick with it. Put Colter back at the point (he's been by far the best player this year). If he thinks Lewis can develop into a solid center, start him, and take your lumps. Put Robinson at the 4, and rotate him with McCoy, and let Gill, and Powell split time at the 3. Put Mason back at the 2, and see if he can get untracked. James and Stevens can get the rest of the minutes. I don't think anyone would have predicted how bad Mason, and McCoy have been. Offline Fact is Robert Morris AD actually very bright in fact he is a real Medical Doctor. Graduated /PSU medical school ran his own dept @ UPMC. Hockey program nationally recognized built football stadium keeps replacing the mens bob coaches without missing a beat. His budget very small yet his record against Amodio speaks for itself. Unfortunately Duquesne in a superior conference is #3 in The Pittsburgh basketball scene. Time for a new AD on the bluff here comes St.Francis & Umass Lowell my friends. He has more resources than any other DU coach and the best he can do is steal Andy Toole's rant. Offline I feel sorry for him because of the pathetic state of the program. I'm a Ron Everhart guy, but I've got to believe Ferry is really suffering and in great pain right now. Offline Perhaps, as you say, Jim Ferry is suffering right now, I know I am, and I don't have 4 years left on a 600K per year contract. I think its still too early to give up, but I agree there is no evidence thus far of him being able to take us to the next level. I hope he proves that wrong,. but he better do it soon. Offline Someone took down the Amodio bashing thread, so I'm bumping this one back up to take it's place. Offline Evidently, the person who started the thread deleted it. That is a shame as there were some good points and conversations in the thread. I did. I didn't mean to. Just my comments about GA. But I hit delete topic by mistake. Last edited by duqkurt (1/07/2015 7:17 pm) I did. I didn't mean to. Just my comments about GA. But I hit delete topic by mistake. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating that peace reign in all respects and that there should be no tough criticism of the AD, coach, etc. There should be - they should be held to a high standard if we ever hope to get this program (and DU in general) to a high standard. Just don't think we should bash each other or the other board (and they shouldn't bash this board) for holding differing views. But I am relieved to hear that the thread was deleted by mistake - with the way things are going at work right now I was thinking that I said something wrong and it was deleted because I talked too much or invoked the name of ED at the end! Don't be afraid to make comments, that's what the board is for. The problems come when people disagree, and accuse you of either having a vendetta against, or being a shill for GA. My feeling on the whole GA/Ron thing is this; the firing was mishandled badly. That is a separate issue from the firing itself. You can agree or disagree with the decision to fire Ron, but a manager does have the right to make unpopular decisions on personnel. That said, if those decisions fail, it's fair for that manager to pay with his job. That is where we are right now. GA made the decision to change coaches. If this decision ultimately proves to be a failure, he should be looking for work. As for the argument that Ferry failing doesn't mean that firing Ron was the wrong move, that may or may not be true, but even if we could see in the crystal ball that the team was going to collapse had Ron stayed, that wouldn't excuse GA from the responsibility of finding a proper replacement. I have to say this. The person who said I had a personal vendetta against the AD, did so on another board under the guise of praising that board for not taking personal attacks or calling out other posters. He did this while mentioning my name and another posters name. Last edited by duqkurt (1/08/2015 9:16 pm) Offline The Akron Team has a current record of 11-4. Why am I saying this? We probably got the wrong coach. Offline The Akron Team has a current record of 11-4. Why am I saying this? We probably got the wrong coach. Don't be too sure of that. Dambrot may just be a good fit at Akron. He failed badly when he went to another school before, which may be why he was hesitant to come here. Akron is his hometown, and he may just have the right connections to succeed there. Remember, he's in the MAC, not the A10, so he doesn't have to recruit at quite as high a level. Amodio when was hired he was the guru of PR and getting TV exposure.
Well we don't have a permanent radio statio & and no games on Root Sports. He has been a abject failure at the things he was good at. He has been worse in other areas.

Something Mulder said about the we should keep our comments in line with Catholic values. (Paraphrasing that last line) That just hit home with me. He was right.
Life is too short to be angry over basketball. I don't want to be the reason that recuits don't cone to Duquesne. However, far flung that notion is.

And I'm probably the least Catholic of most of you though that's for another thread (can we start one here or on the other board about religion? I'm sure that would result in a calm discussion!).
No problem. I really did take your comments to heart though and the poster of another board that said I have a personal vendetta against GA. Which could not be farther from the truth. I have a personal vendetta against not being in the NCAA tournament for 35 years.
But the points hit home with me. I don't want anyone thinking I am out to get someone. I don't want anyone out to get me. So whatever happens, happens. I will do my best to refrain from commenting on it, because I have no control whatsoever on the situation.
