I think Cleary will be my second favorite team here on out.

Lipscomb wont attract many average fans, but I actually want to go to that one, figuring they will honor last years team and hopefully hang a new banner in the Coop.

Are we going to play another game in Akron at Lebron James Areana?

I know some people did not like this event for reasons already hashed out! I for one liked this game. Attending several and really enjoyed our group going!

Go Dukes can’t wait for season!

I'd be fine with establishing a home and home tradition with the Zips.

Per Rocco Miller:

Duquesne and Towson are finalizing an agreement to play a neutral-site game on Saturday, December 14th at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, according to multiple sources.

I'm happy that we are able to do this, but I wonder if this means we are having trouble putting together a home OOC schedule.

My theory, completely unsupported by any evidence, is they were going to try to get a second west coast game on the same trip, but were unable to find a suitable opponent to pair with UC Irvine. At that point, didn't make sense to fly to California. Plus, I think Irvine has another east coast game lined up around that same time.

Plausible, hope that's it.

Most of the bottom third of the D-1 teams are now using their leverage to extract as much money as they can to play road games.  In essence, they are selling these games to the highest bidder; almost an auction process.  Early in the scheduling process, it is a Seller's Market.  For example, the Dukes could have an offer on the table for Team A to play here for $40K; yet Team A will not commit hoping that a program with deeper pockets and struggling to fill out their non-con schedule offers more cash. Once the deep pocket schools finalize their schedules, the financial windfall opportunities dwindle for Team A reducing their leverage.

It was probably cheaper for the Dukes to pay UC Irvine the money to come here and saving travel costs vs paying for a lower level home game.

Living in Sac - California for over 25 years..... I had already inquired to UC Irvine on buying tickets....So to say I'm disappointed would be a huge understatement.

The  only time the Dukes have been on the west coast,  was in the 2nd round of CBI Tourney against Oregon Ducks.....I attended that game and remember being among, maybe about 15 to 20 Dukes fans in attendance....Lasting memory was that the Dukes fought to the very end and had an opportunity to tie the game, with 2 second left but Sean Johnson was only able convert on 1 of 3 free throws and Dukes lost the game 77-75.

Another image that I will always stick in my mind, was as the two teams were slowly drifting to their perspective locker rooms, after the game had concluded....I noticed Bill Clark and Damian Sanders were the last 2 Dukes players to slowly-lingeringly exit the court... they turned to each other  and met around the free throw line and shook each other hand and walked off arm-in-arm into the locker-room tunnel ... acknowleging each others efforts and that (this just concluded game) would be the last time that they would get to play together as Duquesne teammates..... In my mind,  true Duquesne Duke Warriors !!!

Go Dukes !!!!

I remember that game like it was yesterday. Oregon was a mirror image of the Dukes. Both team stole the ball and both teams didn't have a lot of height, But their tallest player was 6'8" and Damien was 6'7". In those closing seconds, they got all critical rebounds and that was costly. RE did a great job with an undersized team constantly by pushing the games into a running style, but not since Shawn James did RE find anyone of size that could run in that style.

Question who wins the tie on the 11:05 post between CLK & Mike R🤔Flip a coin. Anyone have any ideas when the A10 finalizes the dates & times of the conference schedule?

By my count we have one non-conference slot to fill. Anyone have any idea? The rules change so much these days I’m never confident I have them right.

Do we have anyone like a Nebraska level opponent yet?   Any P6 school with a pulse(not DePaul).
Maybe Illinois has a need to get someone to go to their place.

Not an impressive schedule, but a lot of that depends on our Cayman Island success and draws. Win the games they should win and beat Princeton and Depaul and the Dukes will be in good shape come conference play. Expect no worse than 10-3 out of conference with 11-2 or 12-1 very possible. 13-0 and we're ranked come conference play. We'll see. Anything less than that we are just talking some growing pains. Long haul these seasons, especially for a team trying to figure how to play the right combos on a team with this much talent.
