Women win 67-64 .  St. Joes might be the best team in the league.  They have a strong inside presence that can be the type of thing that causes problems for DU who sometimes plays undersized lineups.  Dan and the staff came up with the unique strategy of having four players playing man to man and Megan (who played her usual 40 minutes despite taking some physical "bangs" played a zone in the middle under the basket.  DU actually WON the rebounding battle 38-34.  Meg was her usual terrific self 19 points 8 rebounds 6 steals.

Mackenzie (13 points) and Gabby BOTH hit really big 3's in the final minutes.  Team as a whole shot 16-18 from the line.

SPECIAL shout out to Faith Walker -  she is the one who spends time pressuring the inbounds passer.  In 15 minutes she got 4 rebounds and did NOT score (because she did NOT attempt a shot)  In a day when EVERYONE wants to "score the basketball"  (I HATE that phrase)  Faith passed up some chances to pull the trigger quickly.

Finally to show what kind of night it was -  there was a sequence when Jerni kind of pin-balled off TWO defenders at the same time.  ONE ref called it a CHARGE -  ONE called it a BLOCK --  and after some discussion DU GOT THE CALL ON THE ROAD - (maybe the THIRD official who probably had the WORST view cast the deciding vote)

Team still has a little hole to dig out of record wise but bus ride home was probably a LOT better than it might have been otherwise.
