I never felt Ryan Odom would stay at VCU for very long.  He was always looking to coach in the ACC where his father coached as an assistant for many years.  The goal for coaches now is to get to a P-5 school.  The work becomes much easier.  You have access to a higher caliber player, you can grab players from the mid-majors in the portal.  You can conceivably win a National Title at a school like UVA as opposed to VCU where you would be fortunate to win one game in the Tournament.  P-5 also pays more.  So, there are many reasons to make the move to UVA.
There are a few interesting jobs open now with Villanova and now VCU.

Continuing on the above topic, New Mexico is just finishing off Marquette in tonight’s action.  It may delay an announcement from Villanova, as Richard Pitino is a name associated with the Nova job.  I feel like they have their guy, but his team is still playing, whether it’s Pitino or someone else.

New addition to Nova list is a surprise, Mick Cronin current UCLA Coach, perhaps not happy with the extensive travel involved for West Coast teams in the expanded B1G! Big East travel is nowhere near as demanding, mostly east coast with a trip to Milwaukee and Creighton added.

Not a huge surprise. Talking heads have been saying this for a while.

VCU top spender in A10. Great fan support and hospital money. Sells out every game. No pro sport teams in Richmond. Whoever  gets this job can’t miss.

Phil Martelli, Jr , head coach of Bryant, reportedly taking the VCU job. His dad had a little bit of success in the A10. Wonder if he is writing a book titled “Don’t call me Son of Coach”
