Charleston transfer Stef van Bussel has committed to Duquesne.

The 6’10” redshirt sophomore center never suited up for the Cougars and redshirted this season.

Bussel previously played at Saint Louis where he averaged 1.6 points, and 2.6 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game during the 2023-24 season.

I am pleased with this commitment. Another A-10 team saw fit to sign him out of high school/give him some experience,he is physically mature, & has multiple years of eligibility. Here's hoping he is 100% healthy!

More legit size (and hopefully depth)in the frontcourt to go with Hugley, Dixon, Necas, & Jellum. When was the last time the Dukes had 5 guys 6'9" or better?

Find that PG!!!

Great job Coach Dru

I love this signing. The front court Center depth we need. And with 3 years availability can't lose despite the portal. If he stays he's probably in line for major minutes after this year. You can't sign too many stars as the play time isn't there for all he can now grow into a star!

Now as everyone keeps saying the experienced PG is next!!

Go DRUquesne!

Welcome, Stef. Good depth piece. I don’t anticipate him moving the needle much this coming year, but a nice replacement for Wilborn (with an extra year of eligibility).

Waiting on the PG announcement.

Needed another BIG man.   And yes, all focus should be on the PG now.   Get one of those, and lets roll!!!

I went back and looked at Stef's advanced metrics during his limited minutes on poor SLU team om 2023-2024.  I was pleased to see that he graded out fairly well offensively and OK defensively, but the numbers that stood out were the team numbers when he was on the court (having the team's highest offensive efficiency and 2nd highest defensive efficiency).  Likely well coached and trained in fundamentals coming out of the Netherlands and his Germany playing days.

This is from before he went to St.Louis more than 2 years ago.

He appears to be a lefty with some ability to also finish with his right hand.

Thanks for the find and the post. No doubt that he can dunk Hard to tell the level of competition, but he sure looks strong and space opens up around him. Good quick hands; hopefully his footwork has improved over the past couple of years.

Like the way he looks to box out for rebounds.

It's tough to put together a highlight reel for guys who do the dirty work, but I like what I see. Is he going to be an all-conference player? Likely not, but every good team has guys who do the dirty work behind the scenes.
