Got to wonder why this is not held during the season?

Not going...though I am a season tix holder I am tired of everyone living in the past...and I understand the why, we only have the past.   Also get a letter from DU Advancement office asking for money...not until their men's team wins.  Not much else to say that hasn't been said here for the past 3 years.

We're not being asked to fund social programs in the Hill District, we're being asked to contribute to the basketball program. Many have done so for years with no tangible ROI.

So I don't get the point of your post.

El Duque, the letter from the advancement department did include athletics, but was more oriented to various academic programs, scolarhships and the campus ministry. It was more directed at the university's primary goal -- education. If you don't get that point, you are not paying much attention. Secomnd, The Dome seems to think that the current administration is relying too mucn on national rankings. I would suggest is it good we are getting some rankings. If we are losin the "local war," as he says, it is because of the weakness of local media. Take pride, folks, in what this university is.

No, I'm not paying much attention. That's been my point for more than a year.

I stopped giving money to the athletic department and started giving to a targeted academic area. I contacted key administrators and academicians to offer more than financial support. I wanted to set up an internship program, among other things. I was told, "we'll get back to you." I followed up several times. No one returned calls or emails.

Finally, I get another letter looking for money.

That's when I stopped paying attention.

Opening the Pharmacy in the Hill is an admirable gesture, and hopefully indicative of further involvement in the Hill District Community.  I am all for that kind of social involvement, but other Universities carry on similar social projects, but also manage to compete at a high level in at least one sport (basketball).  Nobody wants to see the University regularly subjected to ridicule because it can't seem to figure out how to  manage it's only major sport.
