Offline Have you all seen this? New Mexico State went to Albuquerque to play University of New Mexico and a NMSU player killed somebody in self defense with a gun he somehow had brought to an away game. It came out today that coaches "held onto the gun used in the shooting" and 3 other teammates helped him put the gun in a car trunk. We are supposed to play these guys at home this Sunday. It will be interesting for sure. Offline Glad I am going tomorrow and not sunday! Offline Was planning on attending both but just may have to reconsider! Offline Have you all seen this? It will be interesting for sure. Noticed this in the first part of the article. What kind of syntax its this? Offline Several days before Thanksgiving this was a story on CNN so media was on it. If you mean the part about the “cover up”, yes that came out later once facts were more known. The Aggies and New Mexico cancelled a home and home hoops series. The Aggies then scheduled a quick game against Simon Fraser, a school near Vancouver BC to replace their two cancelled games. Offline Have you all seen this? It will be interesting for sure. an incredible story - and begining to look like the Chicago gang element is entering our NCAA basketball arena literally and figuratively… with a number of players and coaches on the New Mexico State involved with a coverup, I believe Duquesne should voice their opinion about them coming here to play. It will be interesting for sure. What??? How is NMSU playing basketball this year after this "incident"? This is corrupt on so many levels that it boggles the mind. Offline Video of the altercation was released, and I'll link it for whoever wants to see. It seems it is pretty obvious a self defense killing but why was he carrying a gun at an away game after team curfew? They're all morons. FYI Mike Peake gets ran up on by three guys and a gun shoved in his face, then hit with a bat. He starts running away but gets chased and fires shots back, killing the person chasing him. (that part is blurred out) Mike also gets shot in the leg. Offline "Muhammad, Roy and Avery will not play in tonight's road game at Santa Clara, an NMSU spokesperson said. Their status for Saturday's game against Duquesne in Pittsburgh is still unclear. Roy did not make the trip to Santa Clara 'for personal reasons.'" Offline They lost by 1 point last night and the 3 kids that picked up their teammate after the shooting didn't play, Offline Here's how the NMSU game ended last night: Online! From NMSU website: Offline Per Pittsburgh Sports Now -- Halil Barre is expected to make his debut on Sunday against New Mexico State Offline Per Pittsburgh Sports Now -- Halil Barre is expected to make his debut on Sunday against New Mexico State I haven't seen Reece show the weathers or Hughes type grit I think he needs, I think it's a good idea to get another big in the mix. One thing is Marshall only played 7 players to beat us, we are still playing 10 and Gunn is injured. Offline NMSU Basketball's season has been suspended indefinitely amid "new allegations": Offline The new allegations involve multiple players hazing a teammate on more than one occasion. The police report was filed in the past 24 hours and that resulted in the shutdown of the program. Last edited by BluffHunter (2/11/2023 1:53 am) 1 of 1

Anyway. Peake is suspended, but the team goes on and nothing is said about the coverup by the teammates and coach.
Also wondering why it took over two weeks for the story to reach the media.

Buzzer beating 3 to tie the game! Except he was not behind the three point line.

FAMILIAR DUKES
• Despite the unfamiliarity between the two programs, NM State will not be completely blind going into Sunday's matchup as a pair of the Dukes' stars have a history with some of the Aggies' staff and players.
• Second-leading scorer Tre Clark III played under Greg Heiar and alongside Issa Muhammad and Deshawndre Washington at Northwest Florida State during their run toward an NJCAA National Championship last season. Additionally, staff members Chad Donley, Dylan Brown and Lorenzo Jenkins also served on the staff at NWFS during Clark's time.
• Under Heiar, Clark made 31 starts and averaged 24.6 minutes per game while scoring a team-high 12.3 points per game.
• Meanwhile, James Beck played alongside the Dukes' leading scorer Dae Dae Grant last year at Miami (OH). Grant also led the RedHawks in scoring last season - posting 17.5 points per game while making 32 starts in 32 appearances.

"The New Mexico State University Board of Regents were informed this evening of the suspension of operations for the men's basketball program," the NMSU Board of Regents said in a statement. "The board supports the action taken by the university leaders and is confident a full and thorough investigation will be conducted." •Thread Starter
