It looks like the Mastodons are coming to the Coop on November 3rd. Not good with this but here's the link.

We have to play someone and this looks like a safe bet.

Are we paying them $90,000 to play us here or did I misread that?

Yes Dukes are paying $90K. I’m figuring that the Dukes will need to spend at least $500K to build an 8 game mediocre home schedule. That’s why we will likely see 2 non D-1 games at home again this season.

Would've be much better to use that $90,000 on a player and play and away game against a top 100 team who could actually factor into post-season rankings.

The issue is that most power conference teams don’t want to load their schedule up with mid-level A10, MWC or WCC teams. Sure, they will agree to play Dayton, VCU , SLU, etc. where a loss is not a complete disaster. Lose to a Duquesne, Davidson, George Mason, GW and that loss could put you on a bubble.
Last year, the Dukes got paid to play at MWC schools Boise State and Nevada. They also had the exempt MTE (Multi Team Event) where they got a road game against Villanova and 2 home games (Queens and Sacred Heart). For every other home game, the Dukes wrote a check. This has been the brutal reality of building a home schedule for the last 3 or 4 years.
