2026-2027 Schedule

It looks like the Mastodons are coming to the Coop on November 3rd.  Not good with this but here's the link.

We have to play someone and this looks like a safe bet.

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

Are we paying them $90,000 to play us here or did I misread that?

Yes Dukes are paying $90K. I’m figuring that the Dukes will  need to spend at least $500K to build an 8 game mediocre home schedule. That’s why we will likely see 2 non D-1 games at home again this season.

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

Would've be much better to use that $90,000 on a player and play and away game against a top 100 team who could actually factor into post-season rankings.

The issue is that most power conference teams don’t want to load their schedule up with mid-level A10, MWC or WCC teams. Sure, they will agree to play Dayton, VCU , SLU, etc. where a loss is not a complete disaster. Lose to a Duquesne, Davidson, George Mason, GW and that loss could put you on a bubble.

Last year, the Dukes got paid to play at MWC schools Boise State and Nevada. They also had the exempt MTE (Multi Team Event) where they got a road game against Villanova and 2 home games (Queens and Sacred Heart). For every other home game, the Dukes wrote a check. This has been the brutal reality of building a home schedule for the last 3 or 4 years.

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

Up to $180,000 for 2 home games vs. teams that will not draw much interest.  Life in 2026 college basketball.

Welcome, PGH Mike. Thanks for the info.

I could be wrong, but I believe that this High Point game will be part of the Sunshine Slam 4 team tournament. So I would anticipate that the Dukes will be playing 2 games in Daytona.

I hope we play someone with a pulse.   Take a pay day to go to UConn or UNC.

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

I agree totally with Towsonkid. What can the team learn from this OOC schedule? And, seriously, Cleary again? Why not make that a pre-season, meet-the-Dukes event?

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

Seriously, 100% in agreement. Why are we so bad at everything? I know it is tough for the A-10 to schedule up, but we consistently are at the bottom of every metric that I would use to define a decent program.

- Bad/slow at recruiting.
- Terrible at scheduling....Fordham is playing Kansas for crying out loud. Almost every other A-10 Team has at least one power 5 team on their schedule if not multiple.
- As everyone always points out, terrible at providing news/information. Every other A-10 team has their 2026/27 roster updated on their website except us.

It's all just sooo frustrating. In one of the top media markets in the conference, why are we at the bottom of all of these things? There is no reason that we shouldn't be competing with Dayon, St. Louis and VCU year in and year out.

Re: 2026-2027 Schedule

You folks are correct. But you need to email the interim athletic director and pick out a media person from the site. At times this has worked for me but I doubt many of you email them with specific concerns. Also, copy to the coaches. If enough of you do this it can only help…I hope!!!

Them hearing from me is a minimal thorn in their side.
