As I did for the Men's Team - I decided to create a Thread to Track the Women's Roster.  I hoped by waiting a few days after the Portal Deadline all of the departures would be known and we could focus on the additions needed.  Given Andjela's departure today I'm going to go ahead and post.  As A COURTESY please use this thread for NUMBERS only.  With 15 available slots below I have 12 players which would make 3 spots available.  Feel free with any corrections.

Looks like there are only 9 in and 6 available -  YOU are correct..  When Barre and Wilborn left -  only ONE got subtracted in the numbers.  That is why I/we are TRYING to keep track of the roster.  Mea Culpa!!

There are now 5 scholarships that can be filled.  The latest departure REALLY hurts

Hughley would make 11 -  4 spots would remain.  As a COURTESY going forward can we use this thread to track the numbers only.   Possible new recruits / rules regulations etc can you please post them in different threads etc.

There is an event called the Lilly Women's College All Star Game Saturday April 5 at 3PM on ESPN2 - Megan was one if twenty players selected to participate.  CONGRATULATIONS to her.

CLK, you are correct regarding the hard and fast roster limit of 15. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Dukes and other schools build and manage their roster.

I would assume that Duquesne will establish a line item budget for men’s basketball player costs which would include scholarship value (probably around $60,000 per scholarship) and NIL. Let’s say Duquesne’s budget will be $2 million. Now build a roster.

Do you offer 10 scholarships total? There goes 30% of your budget. Do you give those 10 scholarships to 10 players or offer up full scholarships to 8 players and half scholarships to 4 players?

Continuing on the above example/exercise, you now have $1.4 million left to pay NIL money. How do you distribute it? Do you focus on 3 really good players (which may cost you a $1 million in NIL) and then spread the remainder around to the other scholarship players? It’s the great unknown.

I came across this site. Found it interesting to look at; I have no idea about the validity or significance. But someone put a lot of time, thought and effort into this so to me it was worth an exploration. Take a look at the valuation of Tre and Kareem projected in the portal.

Phoenix, great post. This is no doubt the thought process and major challenge for low and mid major schools with limited resources.  If those numbers in the link are correct, which I don't, in a few years the NCAA will be composed of only P4 leagues.    
 

OR possibly the P4 will become the P2 as the gap between the SEC and Big 10 widens between the Big 12 and the A

FIRST I read a while ago that the number of scholarships will increase to 15 for both men (presently 13) and women (presently 14)  

By my count we presently have 10 -  so 5 spots are available -  any changes can simply be XX arrives - spots now available or XX departs spots now available.

With these changes, I don't think that Saint Francis will be the last school getting out of the Division 1 basketball game.  It's going to be interesting to see if schools like La Salle and Fordham survive the expense to compete in the A10.  As Dukes fans, we are so very fortunate that we have Ken Gormley as president who had the vision to position Duquesne Athletics as a pillar of success for the University; and for Dave Harper's execution of the initiative.  Fasten your seatbelts; more turbulence to come.

And LaSalle just built/or is building a brand new on campus facility spending millions of dollars...
