The Pac-12 Conference features nine full member institutions for the 2026–2027 basketball season following its official relaunch:

It appears to me that this “league” is on life support. Not sure if Meg is still involved.

Up to $180,000 for 2 home games vs. teams that will not draw much interest.  Life in 2026 college basketball.

Yes Dukes are paying $90K. I’m figuring that the Dukes will  need to spend at least $500K to build an 8 game mediocre home schedule. That’s why we will likely see 2 non D-1 games at home again this season.

No matter how good, or not so good  Ege turns out to be at the five next year, he can’t play 40-minutes a game and will be a target for foul calls, remember Dave Dixon and Mike Hughes?   A-10 refs always find our bigs to be easy targets, so one big won’t cut it!  I recall that Hungar the GW backup center was in the portal.  I was impressed with his game. If he’s still undeclared def, I would offer.  He had a very strong game in a starting role against Duquesne at the Coop last year. He’s a smart player and has a feisty edge to his game.

In the Dukes game, Yoav picked up his 2nd foul 2 minutes into the game which chased him to the bench. I think I remember that both fouls were cheap ones, causing the Queens coach to get quite animated. While Yoav sat or played cautiously,  Dukes were able to go up by 21 points in the first half before Queens was able to cut the lead to 9 at halftime. Dukes were fortunate to get to overtime (Yoav missed 2 shots in the last 5 seconds) and prevail.

John is a really good dude. Upbeat, personable. Quite the change from Dave Harper on a personal level. Hope John can take the program to the next level. I’m very appreciative of what Dave Harper accomplished at Duquesne; he did a remarkable job.

FWIW, the MWC was rated the 6th best conference this year by KenPom; A10 7th.
Other points of reference are West Coast Conference 8th, Mid American 17th, Horizon 19th, NEC 29th and American East 30th.

The NIT owed South Alabama one.  South Alabama had their invite rescinded last year by the NIT due to some other misunderstanding with Cal Riverside.

Dukes will play either URI or Fordham in first round, regardless of being the 7, 8, or 9 seed.
With a win, the Dukes will play either SLU or VCU in the quarterfinals.
