Good stuff Phoenix. phil95, definitely think he is a point guard. Haven’t dug too deeply. Not sure what kind of talent he was playing with or the type of offense they were running at Tennessee Martin, which certainly can impact your assist rate. But I like his low turnover rate (actually lower than Rozier’s last year). Nice job, Coach Dru and staff. I really like a lot of things in Tarance's game, but his ability to get to the FT line (and shoot a good percentage) is huge. Tarance got to the line 178 times last year; his FT rate was 113th in the country. The Dukes leaders last year were Corbett at 96 FTA's and Dinkins with 78 (174 combined).
phil95, good points. I (and probably others) have overlooked Cam’s 3 point shooting prowess. This might be due to the fact that Cam gets most of his 3 point shots from the offense vs dribbling and creating his own shot. I anticipate that Cam will have a really good season after playing a year in Dru’s system (why I love bringing in guys with multiple years of eligibility available vs 1 and done). Dukes will be part of a multi-team event hosted by Villanova. Dukes will play at Villanova and host both Sacred Heart and Queens. Sticky thread for 25-26 Schedule info and rumors Hope this is true, CLK. Would me a significant upgrade at the point guard position. Here are a few highlights from Stef’s time in Saint Louis This is from before he went to St.Louis more than 2 years ago. Thanks for the find and the post. No doubt that he can dunk Welcome, Stef. Good depth piece. I don’t anticipate him moving the needle much this coming year, but a nice replacement for Wilborn (with an extra year of eligibility). I went back and looked at Stef's advanced metrics during his limited minutes on poor SLU team om 2023-2024. I was pleased to see that he graded out fairly well offensively and OK defensively, but the numbers that stood out were the team numbers when he was on the court (having the team's highest offensive efficiency and 2nd highest defensive efficiency). Likely well coached and trained in fundamentals coming out of the Netherlands and his Germany playing days. Welcome, Stef. Good depth piece. I don’t anticipate him moving the needle much this coming year, but a nice replacement for Wilborn (with an extra year of eligibility). 👍 Based on where they are landing, the Dukes fans might have overvalued the roster. Thanks, phil95. If you don't have a top A10 point guard (see Aaron Jackson and Jimmy Clark), it is highly improbable that you are competing at the top level of this conference. The PG today has to be able to score both from the 3-point line and driving to the basket, defend at a very high level and be able to get the ball to other players in the right time and place; added bonus is leadership skills... This player is tough to find but it needs to happen for the Dukes. I have been a fan of Zac’s work over the years covering the Dukes, but he missed the mark on this entire article. I am not sure what the point of the article was. Eli picked James Madison He loves the Dukes. Loco Chad committed to USC. Committed to UIC (as posted in another thread). I realize the thread was a joke, but still see the need to point out that the wins are being vacated, not forfeited. So they don’t get credit for the wins, but we still do have the losses. You’re no fun, lucky. I prefer to remember the tandem of Primo Spears and Jackie Johnson not passing to each other as part of an 8-22 Dukes team vs 6-24. And who can forget Kevin Easley declaring for the NBA draft after that season. 4 wins is nothing to sneeze at. At this point, I'd take George Santos... C’mon KenOTR73, Kareem Rozier is taller than George and you saw how much abuse he received from this board. He is definitely a strong scorer. He seems excellent on the drive as both a finisher & penetrator while showing nice athleticism & strength.
He has also been a great positional rebounder at all his stops. I wonder how that will translate to a higher level of competition.
Any concerns about his assist rate or the fact that one or 2 places that follow portal movements list him as a shooting guard?Men's Basketball » Roster Construction Insight from Tristan at Busting Brackets » Yesterday 1:26 pm
Here’s a pretty deep dive into roster construction for mid-majors by Evan Miya. Interesting take on balancing transfers, freshman, returnees, etc.Men's Basketball » POINT GUARD - Tarence Guinyard - 6'2" » Yesterday 12:22 pm
I also like the fact that he has multiple years of eligibility remaining. His defensive metrics were a bit below average, but I think that can be coached up by the Dukes staff. Well done!Basketball Recruiting » Davern Jellum 6-9 forward » 5/05/2025 12:33 pm

Hopefully, Alex Williams was able to pick up knowledge during his injury season and is fully recovered. I don’t know how much time he was able to spend, if any, playing and practicing with the team.
Jimmie Williams is intriguing, especially with having 3 years of eligibility remaining. It’s not much of a step up, if any, from playing in the AAC to the A10. Hopefully that high percentage 3 point shot will come with him to Duquesne and improve even further.Men's Basketball » 25-26 Schedule » 5/03/2025 7:58 pm

Senior transferring from Southeastern Louisiana. 1st team all-conference (Southland Conference which has McNeese St, Lamar, Nicholls, etc) and all defensive team selection. Looks like a player; at first glance, only negative is that he is a below average 3 point shooter.Men's Basketball » Stef van Bussel, a 6’10 center A Duquesne Duke » 5/02/2025 4:49 pm

He appears to be a lefty with some ability to also finish with his right hand. Hard to tell the level of competition, but he sure looks strong and space opens up around him. Good quick hands; hopefully his footwork has improved over the past couple of years.

For me, this one didn’t pass the sniff test. Committed to Stanford, decommitted, and then went to BYU where he couldn’t get on the court for any meaningful minutes (he played a total of 17 minutes in the 20 Big 12 conference games). Entered the portal.
Besides the Duquesne visit (and the UIC commitment), I could not find any other offers/visits/interest in him after he entered the transfer portal. He certainly had a ton of high major interest coming out of Brewster Academy, but it appears that the interest vanished for some reason.Men's Basketball » Red Hot Dukes Pick Up Wins Against Fordham » 4/25/2025 1:55 pm

Fordham really had the Dukes’ number in those 2 years; those pictures of recruits in Times Square really put them over the top.
Seriously, what a joke. With all the crap that goes on, the NCAA comes down hard on Fordham??? Reminds me of the old Jerry Tarkanian quote, "The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation."Men's Basketball » Eli Wilborn Enters the Transfer Portal » 4/23/2025 3:09 pm
