Gotcha Rick, but we don't have any transfers from their men's team. And of course during the past seasons they have whupped on us like a big brother, and you're right, as long as they think they can continue to do that we'll be on their schedule. I'm the confused one. I missed where he switched from the men's team to the women's team in GoDukes post In my original post I inadvertently failed to clarify that it was the Robert Morris women's team that had chosen not to play the Dukes' women's team for the past two years. I expect there will be no game between the teams in the 2017-2018 season. I later edited my first post and inserted the word "women." Known non-conference games: Is this the big reveal? Ha, ha! I must admit that I was very anxious to read your post. I spoke to Dan Burt at the of end of the season and suggested playing St. John's for another 2 years. Not sure where my suggestion will go. But Dan did say that continuing playing a Big East team, such as St. John's, appealed to him. 2017 FCS vs. FBS: Northeast Conference 2017 FCS vs. FBS: Northeast Conference Word from those who got to watch the Steeler's minicamp on Friday, was that Dukes' QB Dillion Buechel's performance looked impressive enough that Dillion will likely be hanging around with the Steelers for the foreseeable future. I note that there is no mention of the men's proposed 2017-2018 basketball rules being changed to having the game being divided into quarters instead of just halves and other changes made in determining reward for penalty shots by quarters instead of halves as was done in the women's rules. - I believe finals are over. today is the last day. - Finally anyone else hearing that Robert Morris is close to joining the Horizon League? that is just speculation. reading the stories, it would seem to me that they would be a good fit and it would be a huge jump for them but saying they are close to joining is probably akin to saying, oh, i don't know, king rice is close to singing with duquesne This may stir some speculation about Bobby Mo: Congratulations to the Dukes' Women's Track Team on it's 2nd place finish in the A-10 Championship Meet, finishing only 6 points behind the #1 finisher, George Mason. Amazing how well Duquesne has done in women's track in the A-10 when considering that Duquesne doesn't even have its own track to practice on. How do you know we play (or are trying to play) UMass in 2018? Source about Dukes' scheduling: reliable persons close to the football program. Not to have an ego but I broke the story on her transfer. Was surprising but Pitt has had a few transfers. So Brenna doesn't want to play on a team that can't compete for the conference championship or even get close! Maybe it is good that Pitt has not scheduled us yet for next year according to some reports. Standard release usually says no ACC teams or any on the schedule. If so, I'd take her in a heartbeat. I had heard that there have been discussions with Pitt to play a game in Dec. at Pitt. Any long-term series between both colleges may wait for Pitt's new AD to get involved. Libby will be a welcomed addition to the Dukes' 2017-2018 roster. She's a proven winner playing in 4 OH State championship games and helping her team, Kittering Archbishop Alter HS, to win the championship three consequtive years in a row, including today's 58-41 win over Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown. Congratulations to her and her teammates! Dukes got out-played in the 3rd and 4th Qs. Coach Dan got 2 technical fouls in the 4th and was asked to leave the court. A very disappointing way to end the season with a 70-47 loss. Dukes ahead, 27-26, at the half. Lots of 3-point shots taken by both teams. Dukes 3-pt. shooting - 6 for 11 (55%); Drexel - 4 for 16 (25%). Dukes should be out-rebounding this team; however, the Dukes trail, 19-20 and are being beaten on the offensive glass, 4-8. Dukes need to use its height advantage much better that what I saw in the 1st half to put the Dragons back in their cave. The broadcast of the game will be shown on DragonsTV: According to Massey, the Dukes are a 7.5 points-underdog.

10. Northeast Conference (7 teams)No NEC team has gone unbeaten in conference play since former member Albany went 7-0 in 2008. The way its teams consistently knock each other off underscores why national rankings continue to elude the membership. In recent years, Duquesne has been the most consistent program under coach Jerry Schmidt, but fellow co-champ Saint Francis won last year's head-to-head meeting before claiming its first NEC title and playoff bid. Wagner was the only NEC team to take down Saint Francis.

I think it's safe to add Bobby Mo to the men's schedule at the PPG Paint Can. However, I would be greatly surprised if Robert Morris women's team played the Dukes next season. They are still stewing over Judith Sole's transfer to Duquesne two years ago.

By CRAIG HALEYSTATS FCS Senior Editor (STATS) -
Coming off a 2016 season in which their 10 wins over FBS programs tied for the fourth-most in a season, FCS programs hope to make a mark again in 2017. Northeast Conference teams are involved in two of the nearly 100 matchups. However, there's been a push among its members this decade to seek more of the financially beneficial games. Here's a look at this year's matchups involving NEC teams: The Matchups (2) - Central Connecticut State: Syracuse (Sept. 2); Wagner: Western Michigan (Sept. 23)Glamour Game - Wagner at Western Michigan (Sept. 23). The Seahawks drop from two FBS opponents in each of the past two seasons, but their trip to Kalamazoo is a big one as the Mid-American Conference champion Broncos went 13-1 last year, losing only to Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl. Coach Jason Houghtaling's Seahawks finished 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the NEC a year ago.
Upset Alert - None (yeah, sorry).
Notable - Some NEC programs have been adding FBS matchups, but Bryant, Duquesne, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Saint Francis don't have any this season. … Central Connecticut State's game versus Syracuse inside the Carrier Dome is the Blue Devils' second against the FBS (lost 51-14 to Western Michigan in 2007). A matchup at Ball State is scheduled for 2018. … Duquesne hopes to make waves with a 2018 game at Hawaii - just the Dukes' second against the FBS following a competitive loss to Buffalo in 2014. The Dukes also will face UMass in 2018. … Other future matchups: Wagner at Syracuse in 2018 and Robert Morris at Buffalo in 2019. I note that Sagarin's final ranking of men's b-ball conferences for 2017 has the Horizon League at #20 and the NEC at #32.
If Bobby Mo joins the Horizon, I would think that they'd try to stay with the NEC for football since the Horizon League does not offer that sport. Being an independent in FCS is not the way to go. I believe the loss of one football team from the NEC (currently 7 members) might jeopardize the NEC's champion from getting a bid to play in the FCS 24-team post-season playoff.

"Miller and Bazelak meant everything for the Knights. Miller had 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Bazelak 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Bazelak, a Duquesne recruit, said the assist total might be the most important statistic to her."

The taller Dukes were outrebounded by Drexel 44 to 30, including a similar Duquesne deficiency in offensive rebounds, 15-8. Unfortunately Kadri-Ann Lass failed to play with the level of improvement that we saw during the A-10 tournament: 0-4 FGs; 2 pts.;1rb; 1assist;1TO; and 1Blk in 21 minutes.
The only players that played at a level reflective of their seasons' work were Chassidy Omogrosso and Amadea Szamosi. Chassidy's stats: 6-13 FGs; 3-8 3-Pt.; 3-4 FT; 18 pts.; 1 rb.; 1 ast.; 0 TOs; 2 Stls. in 40 minutes.
Amadea's stats: 5-8 FGs; 1-2 3-Pt.; 2-4 FT; 13 pts.; 11 rb.; 0 ast.; 3 TOs; and 1 Stl. in 33 minutes. Women's basketball » Dukes @ Drexel Dragons in 1st Round of WNIT » 3/17/2017 6:59 pm

It will likely be a very tough game for the Dukes. While none of the Dragon's starters are above 6' 0", they all are very good shooters of FGs, 3-pointers, & free throws -- better than the Dukes in all three categories. It will be like playing 5 guards. Duquesne will have to get the ball to 6' 3" Szamosi and 6' 3" Lass early on and hope Drexel fouls a lot. Because of the height advantage, the Dukes should have a decided rebounding advantage. Drexel is 1-4 in its last 5 games vs. the Dukes' record of 4-1.Women's basketball » Dukes @ Drexel Dragons in 1st Round of WNIT » 3/16/2017 1:52 am
