I’ll never get tired of hearing “and the winner will face Duquesne in the next round.”

I've been a Dukes fan since Somerset & Willard ruled the back court. Mulder's comment perfectly describes my experiences here as well. Furthermore, I don't like attacks on the players. I may have a preference as to who should get more playing time but sometimes things just get mean spirited.

I haven't seen any confirmation anywhere but this looks real.

“Fans will get the choice of subscribing to each game for $9.99, monthly for $39.99, or the entire season for $249.99. There will also be a sicko-surcharge of $1.99 added on for every game in which a team under .500 beats the current top team in the standings.”

Not to nit pick Duqes102 great post about a tiny school that could go from nothing to a nationally prominent program in 1-3 years, I would suggest that this prospect will actually be a yearly occurrence. Indeed this could be more common than even 2 year rebuilds, let alone the bygone 3 or 4 year plans. So as much as I (at first) lamented the new system, I’m starting to embrace the future, as I await the return of a Willie Somerset/Ron Willard style back court. I’d settle for a Zoft, Durham, Mike Barr group as well. Damn, I just jumped from an exciting future to living in the past. Go figure.

I find it hard to believe that KD won't play him 28-32 minutes a game no matter who joins the squad or makes a big developmental leap over the summer. That's just too much for the team to thrive because TDM will never be more than an above-average/high-volume shooter & a major defensive liability.

I agree with phil95 in not seeing this as a positive. TDM isn't coming back to play less than 25+ minutes and coupled with the 15 minutes Bekelja will apparently get, that means taking a huge amount of time away from other guards with a greater upside. The players know this all to well and the consequence will likely mean we lose someone to transfer. It's the way of things these days. Furthermore if all three return, I'm afraid we'll lose a total of 2-3 younger players, possibly Austin, Okani, and / or Kelly, each of whom would suffer a loss of playing time in such a scenario. I'd be surprised if Jett & possibly Rotroff return either way. I guess I'd rather see what the group of (now) sophs (plus Maceo) can do coupled with whatever recruits we can snag.

Crosseye, I also like Acuff a lot (although I didn't say so in my post).  I think you may see him become the starter at some point this year (maybe as early as Saturday vs. Lofton).  But I guarantee you that Dambrot will ever be caught short at the PG position again, based on the Carry experience and the relaxed transfer rules.

I am still high from last's night come from behind victory.  Very very encouraging.

On Acuff, he has done little more than bring the ball up past half court and pass it off.  He has done this well.  However, if he is going to be our point guard he needs to to be able to show he can break down the defense with dribble penetration either taking it to the rim or dishing off. He has not shown that yet.  I really like the kid.  He is big, strong, athletic and defends well.  I just don't know if his future is to be a PG or SG.

My thoughts are if Weathers, Hughes don't return we need to rebuild with the best and highest level transfer PG, PF and Center we can get.

Point guard yes, not the other positions. If you want Baker and Harris to transfer, then bring those guys in. If you want to be a championship level team, you put this freshman class on the floor, and watch them develop. Other than at the point, we have the needed talent on the roster right now. I don't want to see one year guys blocking them. Sure, if some stud wanted to come here it would be different, but we know that's not going to happen.

duq81 makes an excellent point I haven’t seen mentioned here yet. From the moment I saw that Coach was bringing in Murphy, I thought one or more of the guards wouldn’t be happy. As the early part of the season unfolded, I zeroed in on S.C. as the one based on what I felt was uninspired play. Of course I have no idea if Murphy was the catalyst but his late arrival likely affected team chemistry. Point is I’d hate to lose Baker or Harris for a temporary

For what it's worth, 247 Sports lists Tyson Acuff (6"2) in their Crystal Ball section as "Duquesne, 100%".

Considering we finished at 173 last year, 109 seems a solid improvement and not too bad a place to start.

I guess I've been away from Dukes BB for a long time, but here's a few observations after 4 games.
1) The Dukes seemed much more comfortable going against man to man D. After ND, they better prepare to face a lot of zone.
2) Yes, there have been consistently strong efforts by a few Dukes, but  I don't recall a team that has a different star each game who then went MIA in the next game(s).
3) Lewis appears to be persona non grata, almost like Daniel Sprong for the Pens. Despite the talent, coach apparently doesn't trust playing him. Surprisingly I don't see him as an impact player on this team any longer.
4) I have an illogical / indefensible desire to see much more of Gavin Bizeau. Yep I saw him "struggle" in his one chance. Strange Huh?
5) The Dukes won't be blown out very often and the program seems headed in the right direction, assuming they beat Pitt...lol. Going to enjoy the season.
