Would be very happy to land either of these two players. Would make a great addition to what is already a pretty good looking class. Getting both would be tremendous. A PG would be nice but as pointed out by Levon I believe, we do have the potential right on our current roster albeit a bit risky to trust the position to a freshman or a player coming off a serious injury. I would point out that Sincere Carry was quite good as a freshman here. At any rate, let's get it done Dru!! No knock on Dinkins whatsoever but a solid PG on this past season's team would have easily resulted in at least a half dozen more wins. Dinkins was PG by default. Not blaming him at all! Much of the time we were like a rudderless ship. You may be right Motor, but I've seen little improvement in Necas offensively unless I'm overlooking something. Dimichele is intriguing in that we really haven't seen a great deal of him with his best play down the stretch and in the A-10 playoffs in '23-'24. In any case, looking forward to a big turnaround this coming season with 20 plus wins. Maybe too early to start with that! GO DUKES! If Hughley pushed out Wilborn, it was a big mistake signing Hughley. BIG! Couldn't agree more townson. Hopefully, Hughley will come thru in a big way for the Dukes next season. If he doesn't, this could prove to be a huge mistake!! Eli was the best prospect on our roster bar none IMO. On the other hand, there are no guarantees anymore. Any player can leave at any time so we'll never know how his career at Duquesne would have played out including how long his tenure here would have been. Really becoming increasingly difficult for me to remain a huge fan of college sports! Sorry to see Dinkins leaving but kind of expected it. Really thought he might end up in a Euro league somewhere. With NIL dollars being what they are, college ball has become quite lucrative and competes with overseas play. Wish him much luck! The only thing better than a 6'2'' PG is a 6'3'' or a 6'4'' PG! Like the $1.00 beer nite the best! Also just kidding. Definitely need a solid point guard and hopefully have one coming from Ohio who's already signed. I do like the "Steel Bowl" idea but wonder if that can ever happen again. Probably wouldn't involve Pitt since they seem too afraid of losing to an "inferior" team. RM, WVU, and Penn St. along with the Dukes would be fun and very interesting. Hope something like that could be explored. We actually did play quite a few teams that we should have beaten IMO but we saw how that went. Anyway, next year can't come soon enough for me. Still believe the future to be bright for Duquesne BB. GO DUKES!! Agree that Rozier is overused though a great ball handler. Corbett should never be on the court at crunch time in the last 5 or 6 minutes of any game unless we have a comfortable lead. Eli our best big by far. DJ3 needs to squeeze every minute out of him that he possibly can. Necas really needs to get his head out of his butt at times and have more court awareness. Bad passes and very average hands lead to too many turnovers! Other than that-GO DUKES!! I thought going in that the George Mason matchup was a much better one for us than VCU. VCU is super athletic and can play a smothering brand of defense. As pointed out by levon 1975, they do not have very impressive bigs. They're not bad but nothing to rave about. I thought the best big on the court was definitely Eli. Really impressed that Dinkins and Crawford had almost no opportunities to get off a shot. Our own "D" did a solid job and worked hard all nite. Depending on matchups, VCU could get to the Sweet 16 but I won't put money on it. Truly hoping that things work out so that the A-10 can field 2 teams in the "Dance". In the meantime, let's win one in St. Louis and head for the A-10 tourney. GO DUKES! My God! Hope that there is a good outcome to all this somehow for reasons I mentioned earlier. Saw that also. Don't want to see the kid in too much hot water, first and foremost for his sake and second for our program. Looks like a winner and could really use him next year. Let's get one tonight and LET'S GO DUKES!! To me, Eli has to stay. No idea what his upside may be, but he is the MVP in the paint right now. Overall, I thought that the Dukes gave a good account of themselves on Saturday. Tough arena and 2 starters down are a pretty tough combination to beat. Maybe a few hiccups along the way and a few too many 3's especially near game's end but, overall, I was fairly impressed with the away game performance. If we are going to make any kind of a run, we need Necas and Corbett in there along with all other available starters. Lots of growth on this team in the last couple of weeks and with Dru as well over the course of the season. Regardless of what happens the remainder of the season, I do believe that the basketball program at Duquesne is in the best of hands. Looking forward to all of it and LET"S GO DUKES!! I believe he qualifies to be redshirted if he doesn't try to play the rest of the season, and he isn't really able to contribute this season at this point. Can't imagine that Jake hasn't been redshirted but it would be nice if the athletic dept. could be a bit more forthcoming with news about this sort of thing. Shell-shocked by what, playing at Richmond? Its nothing new. Completely agree! We have seen that those coaches who know how to work the portal can affect quick turnarounds in their teams. Here's hoping that Dru and staff are able to bring in the kind of talent in the future that this program is lacking this season. AND COACH THEM UP!! GO DUKES!!! If they lose to Richmond this Wednesday they stink. I have watched Richmond on tv & at Bill & Mary. Terrible team. However, like the UMASS game Coach Martin adjusted at halftime & Coach Joyce as well as the players struggled. The Richmond coach is very good. I do like Coach Joyce upside. After all this is his first year as a head coach. This team needs a point guard next year. The strength of A10 competition has always been the guard play. Totally agree that the A-10 is a guard-oriented league. However, it would be nice to see a big get the ball to go through the net once in a while. Thinking of the Bonnies Osunniyi of a few years ago. Not a bad player. Put him on this Dukes team and my guess is we would have a whole lot more wins. Well, I'm in my office a few blocks from the COOP. Worst basketball team today that I've seen wearing Duquesne jerseys in a very long time. Effort there especially defensively but no offense at all. Don't know the final score because I left early. The first time I've ever done that! I texted my wife from my seat, "We stink". We certainly did today. Nothing more to say. They can only get better, I think. Really don't know what to expect from the Dukes today! Most disappointing loss that could have gone the other way like many of our loses. It seems that we compete but can't grab the brass ring. Thought the defensive effort was there. Need to focus recruiting on PG and C positions if we're ever going to do more than just compete! The old McKeesport basketball coach Neenie Campbell always said he could win with a good big man and a good PG. We are in need of both. GO DUKES!! Truly a disappointment yesterday. I'm baffled by Dixon's lack of development offensively. As a freshman he showed flashes of what looked to be a very high ceiling but seeing very little improvement in that area. Should have been able to develop offensive moves in the paint and strong finish by now but seriously lacking them in my view. Thought he would be a double-digit scorer. Any thoughts here? Anyway-GO DUKES!! Great game at the Coop! Was a bit surprised that Max Edwards didn't get more PT at only a little over 7 minutes I believe. Went 2 for 2 with a 3 but rode the bench most of the night. Dixon unreal!! Was a great atmosphere at the Coop Monday nite. Looking forward to many more games there this season. As badly as we played at times, we almost pulled it out against one of the better teams that we will play this season IMO. Totally impressed with Bisons. Looking forward to being at full strength soon. Hoping that Chabi can get healthy and contribute this season and of course Williams as well. Need all hands on deck! GO DUKES! Interesting indeed. Wonder why. I think the key to success this season is to get this team to gel early. To do that Coach Dru needs to identify is 5 best players and give them the most minutes. There is no question that there is a lot of talent and depth on this team, but IMHO he can't play 13 guys. Dambrot learned this lesson last season trying to keep everyone happy. It didn't work, and to his credit he me made a decision to shorten the bench and play his best players, and the rest of the story was historic. Dambrot mostly played 8-10 guys down the stretch in terms of minutes. There were some guys who were not happy, and I think Dambrot felt bad for them, but he did what he had to do. I think Dru will have to do the same thing to be successful. Pick your 5 best guys and go with it. The competition will be for the next 3 to 5 guys coming off the bench. Let's face it college basketball is a business. It is not like kids tee ball where everyone is entitled to play. Every player has a job and gets paid. Player minutes are earned by work and performance, and the coaches get paid based on the performance of the players. I am optimistic about this season based on the talent level of this team. Now it is up to Coach Dru and staff to bring it home. Couldn't agree more CLK. It was a major problem last year early on. Have to think that DJ has to know this and will divide the PT wisely. Can't have too many cooks in the kitchen even though our depth is one of our major strengths. I would put our first 10 players up against any other A-10 team's first 10.Men's Basketball » Bad press » 5/01/2025 3:27 pm

Can do what no other big is capable of at this point. Just needs to stay away from fouling as much. Has to learn to give up a basket now and then rather than a "and one."

There is just very little A10 talent on this team. Bottom line.
Actually need to hope a lot of these guys portal out of here. Give Dru another shot at the portal now that things have settled down from last years fun times.Men's Basketball » Game Thread - Massachusetts Minutemen » 2/03/2025 3:31 pm

Need to see better play from our bigs and some consistency from our guards.
Corbett could be a big factor today.
Be there in section 110 as always. Here's hoping!

This team is jelling having come such a long way in the last few weeks. Let's get Jake and Necas back in the fray and we'll see a winning record before too long and a strong run at playoff time. GO DUKES!!Men's Basketball » Game Thread - Lipscomb Bisons » 11/06/2024 12:22 pm
