OK so most reporting is online but so are most of the above mentioned entities.  It’s not journalism 101 or lack of skill by reporters following up or investigating.  It is instead lack of interest.  

Coverage begets interest.  A reporter is assigned to the beat. The writer can dig in and find the interesting stories or they can only report press releases and attend the pressers and file their stories with the quotes.  Maybe the media outlets overwork the reporters assigned and maybe they do not dedicate any space on the page but when Duquesne made their run a couple years ago they were the top story and the whole city was engaged.  They were interested because of the coverage, not the other way around.

 



I don’t disagree with you Styles. I just don’t see attention paid now. Outside of a few online reports who from TV, radio, the PG  is assigned to the Dukes beat?  Seems like no one. Or very intermittent. I don’t want to get political here but this seems to be a problem even when someone is assigned to a beat generally in journalism. No one seems interested in challenging those in charge. It still seems that no one in charge here locally care about Duquesne.

This game does not need to be this close at 14:50. Sloppy. And too often blow the bucket when they get a steal or turnover. Easily should be up 10 or more

Unlike other local outlets, there often is a lot of coverage on Duquesne sports on the DK Pittsburgh Sports site.  And you do not have to be a paid subscriber to read, though you do have to be a paid subscriber to comment.  Was just scrolling through the Duquesne page and it was sad that there was a conversation going on various aspects of MBB and WBB and there were no comments and no show of support on the part of fans.  That lack of interest is one reason (and not the only one) why we don't get coverage.

Great news!  My son was in pep band while in music school and they did nothing. Was ridiculous that a university with a quality music school couldn’t or wouldn’t do better. I see Pres Gormley’s fingerprints on this.
