I’m A season ticket holder and didn’t get ANY notice.  Don’t know what this is going to be like especially with the city advising people not going to this rally to stay out of the city.  He is scheduled to speak at 6 but my understanding is that he is rarely on time.  Haven’t made a decision yet on whether to go or not.

Unlike other local outlets, there often is a lot of coverage on Duquesne sports on the DK Pittsburgh Sports site.  And you do not have to be a paid subscriber to read, though you do have to be a paid subscriber to comment.  Was just scrolling through the Duquesne page and it was sad that there was a conversation going on various aspects of MBB and WBB and there were no comments and no show of support on the part of fans.  That lack of interest is one reason (and not the only one) why we don't get coverage.

Article from the Post Gazette speculating that Harper may be one of the candidates.  Probably only that but thought all might be interested.

Great news!  My son was in pep band while in music school and they did nothing. Was ridiculous that a university with a quality music school couldn’t or wouldn’t do better. I see Pres Gormley’s fingerprints on this.

This is what The Athletic posted in an article about Lebron's chances of staying with the Lakers:

Looming over this entire summer will be the future of James, who has a $51.4 million player option for next season. Per our reporting, the team desperately wants him back, and is amenable to both a three-year max extension (which would go through his age-42 season) and drafting his son, Bronny James. Wild. I saw at least three different LeBron jersey photoshops last night, too.

Is it possible that Coach Dru knows the Bronny is coming here and delaying announcing others until that is official?

Thanks for the link, BYUGuy.  It is an informative video and BYU's offense is formidable.  It will be a good test against the Dukes quality defense.

I think it is safe to say that every team and game in the tournament will present formidable challenges. BYU is going up against a very good Duke team that has been on a hot streak, and I think it is anyone's game on Thursday.

Nope.

YEP!!!

Really good conversation!  I agree re: too many non conference games at home - that has not benefited us at all as we go into the A10 with difficulty on the road.  And I agree that a coach from outside would be preferable should KD retire.

I agree with Prince of Pilsner and Face.  That plus I don't consider myself an expert and generally most don't respond to anything I say anyway unless it's some smart ass comment.

My wife always likes the Western PA trip (from TN), which we do once every DU basketball season. Unfortunate ending to Wednesday's game.

My wife likes spending the afternoon shopping in the Strip District, and she watches the game intently without knowing too much about it. I don't need a program to know who the Duquesne's players are and where they came from etc.  After entering the Coop, she was looking for a game program, and it actually surprised me that such a thing is no longer available. What's up with that? Not attending games regularly, it was puzzling to me too. A program is certainly of interest to casual attendees who may want to know things that fans don't need in a program. Regular fans already know the DU players' previous stats, states or countries of origin, heights etc., although even fans of the team may not have known of the need to have previously accessed the opposition's scoring, rebound leaders etc..

Has the game program already gone the way where the shopping bags with the iconic store names will be after the new year starts?  Several shop personnel told us we will have to bring bags next year.

They are using electronic programs now and there is a code at the entrance you can scan with your phone to access. Unfortunately at the first game against Cleveland State it was an old version.

I think some people are going off the deep end based on one basketball recruiting "expert" observations at one event.  This is another comment from another guru:

.@DomAekins1 was the most electrifying player at the @OhioStateHoops team camp. He scored effortlessly and played great defense. Aekins has made significant strides as a playmaker and it was on full display this weekend.

When I see this kid he looks to me to be a young Tevin Brewer, who turned out to have a pretty good college career.  I see him as a future piece for the Dukes.  It is not like we won't have some pretty good point guards returning next year.

Dambrot is losing it? Really? Every publication or prediction I have seen shows the Dukes to finish in the top three this year.  I think he knows the way to succeed.

Excellent post

While I appreciate any coverage in media of Duquesne basketball this article certainly had a lot of nothing.  The answers were generic mostly and there is no follow up.  It reads like a list of questions were emailed to Dave Harper and he typed out a reply and sent them back.  And where were questions that many other posters on this board ask all the time?

On just MBB:  What is Coach Dambrot’s contract situation?  The same could be asked of Coach Burt.  What does Dru Joyce bring to the team?  Is he the future head coach?

On basketball in general:  How much does the university spend on both?  Does the administration still see the importance of these teams to promoting the university like, say, a Gonzaga does?  When will the remaining parts of the Coop be constructed?

I’m sure there are better and other questions to consider than these.

Again - grateful for any coverage.  Would like to see at least an attempt at more substance with follow up.
