Wouldn't worry about that. A guy coming from Chicago State most power 5 or 6 schools wouldn't bother to have him on their radar, but I'm sure some did, but the Dukes won out on this one. Thankfully, Dru and the staff knew what they were doing here. Corbett gonna be a favorite on the bluff. Perfect size, athleticism, totally relentless, couldn't care who he's up against, chip on the shoulder, yadda, yadda, yadda. Future NBA guy. Just a great pick up. Go Dukes!

I've always been a bit of a weirdo of a College BBall fan most of my entire adult life. I've watched pretty much every Chicago State bball game possible that was on ESPN plus the past 3 years. Cardet and especially Corbett were a treat to watch. This was the best possible pick up for the Dukes. The guy is extremely tough, athletic, and has a huge bball IQ. Trust me. He was the one guy I wanted over any in the portal. He'll be in the NBA one day soon. If you get a chance watch the Bobcats game against Northwestern this past season where they went in there and won. You'll be impressed.

Casey signed to SLU. I'm not sure who of the other official visits signed with an A10 team as Styles mentioned.

I was just told by a friend who follows recruiting closely that 3 committed elsewhere and 2 to A-10 schools. He is always very reliable in these matters so I believe it but I didn’t ask who. Also, I did not state that as an indictment of DU recruiting, just as information in case someone was waiting to hear if the “visitors” would sign with us. I believe, when it comes to the portal, that there is more than enough to go around for everybody (except maybe Centers who can score) and it is about finding the right fit for their game - not necessarily the school. Even with the Corbett signing I feel like we still need the “straw to stir the drink”. I like all the pieces right now - but we still need that first team A-10 type guard to make it all work. After the season we just had, I thought we would land him.

Think that's Dinkins. Was recruited by quite a few P-6 schools including Indiana, Miami, and Xavier. I think were good with him, Crawford, and Rozier running the point. Just need another center and power forward at this point. Talent wise this team is in the top 50 right now barring the additional pick ups.

SLU is definitely leading the A10 in portal pickups this offseason. Loyola has made some scary moves too.

Dukes right there with them at this point.

Awesome! I remember when Townsonkid said if he or Cardet (the other guard from Chicago State) go into the portal the Dukes should try to nab them and they did. Corbett is an absolute stud. Rebounds, drives to the hoop, and plays defense just ask Northwestern. Cardet declared for the NBA draft, but he may still become available. That would be interesting. What a pick up in Corbett. Nab the Monmouth or Idaho State center and we are good to go big time.

Just watched the BYU replay. So awesome. When it was 38-30 and Drame fighting for that loose ball brought goosebumps. Necas and Dae Dae foul shooting at the end and of course Jimmy getting the jump ball at 63-60 then driving to the hoop as the clock wound down to put the Dukes up 5. All so special. Let's do that again!

I would not want a kid that thinks that way. Basketball is an inside sport. It's not football in November. I would like to see kids that see the potential here, not the sunshine. Basketball is not played on a beach. Real BB players come to a school to play BB, not to play on the beaches.

Nailed it. Where I grew up you played hoops outside all year round even in below freezing temps. Toughened you up and made you feel alive. You didn't feel the elbow hitting your eye and delivered it at random. I want tough kids that grew up in tough areas, not a bunch of softies. When you got indoors it was just icing on the cake and you could easily separate the tough kids from the softies.

Southern guys just like the hot muggy weather and despise any cold weather. Their bones can't take a little northeastern chill which isn't even much of a chill compared to the old days when you actually got some decent snow. Where I am from and not far from Buffalo and Canisius a hundred inches of snow is nothing. You got this Dinkins.

Really? Players will usually get stronger as they mature and have the benefit of great equipment, specialized training and nutrition.  So I  expect Rozier and all of the returning players to get stronger, but I never thought Kareem was lacking in muscle to play at this level. I don’t recall seeing him getting knocked off the ball by stronger players, or getting pushed around on defense. I never saw a lack of muscle to be a problem for Kareem.

Just maybe you didn't go to Dukes games, I do. and for most of the season, defense was our only best part of most games. Rozier played 6 feet off his opponent every game I was there. He is of course small, but he is also not physical enough to play his opponent close enough to reduce their court vision. This is a great disadvantage.  BUT, when he is on offense his opponent plays him tight and physical making his less able to run the offense.  So, I will say it again, more than any returning player, Rozier needs to get more muscle and bigger so he can play tight on defense  and more physical to run the offense to contribute or he will likely get less time on court..

Good points Napa, but we all must admit Rozier is a winner and a leader. He'll get it done in the end, He has a sweet pull up jumper which should be put to use more often. He also makes those plays you never see in the box score. He's a street kid from Detroit. I have no worries about what he brings to the table, but that being said a kid like Crawford who is long would be a perfect fit with him in the backcourt along with either Dimichelle, Hronsky, and even Necas. Sign a guy like Dinkins as well and now were talking a big time backcourt.

Samford Transfer Guard AJ Staton-McCray commits to Florida Atlantic University.

Disappointing, but a lot of mid major guys usually don't sign far from home when they are transferring to another mid major. I'm most excited about Dinkins, Corbett, Crawford, and the big guy from Monmouth (his name escapes me). Do hope we grab a quality transfer or 2 soon. Feels like there's more pressure in off season signings than there is in actual games. It's crazy man. Maybe a quality Juco or 2 will come our way as well. Here's hoping. Go Dukes all day.

Dixon the 4 and 5, Barre the 5 at times. Rozier the one of course, and DiMichelle the 2. If Edwards comes in a solid 2, Corbett a solid 3 if he comes in, the kid from Samford a solid 2, and we will go from there. Go Dukes. Great to be a fan these days. Been a long time coming.

Dixon grew muscles from year one to two. Next year, with just a bit more muscle, Dixon will be a force at center. He plays taller than his size, because, he can elevate. He had a great season  this past year, but by next year, he is likely to dominate the center for the Dukes.

No doubt.I agree. Not the least worried about Dixon.

Really want this the kid from Samford as well as Edwards. That would make us very solid in the backcourt. A piece or two in the frontcourt and we are in business.

Not holding my breath on Bronny. Would have been nice if he had chosen Duquesne early as it would have attracted some higher end portal players to commit. At this point i'm hoping the staff gets four of five quality transfers. Doesn't have to be at the highest end, but a couple AJ Smith's would be nice for starters.

Couldn't paste the sports reference Duquesne basketball history link to this page for some weird reason, but google it and check out the all time player efficiency ratings in Duquesne history. Michael Hughes ranked 1, 3, and 5 in his 3 seasons all time in Duquesne history and was probably the most underrated Dukes player of all time. Dude never got a break from the officials, but was the best player on the court most times. Weathers and Carry also appeared multiple times in rankings. Damn that team had talent.

Excellent news!

Necas, Jake, Dixon, & Rozier are definitely staying. I also have it on very good authority that Barba is staying. C'mon Hronsky, Chabi, & Nicholls; make it clean sweep. (Did I miss anyone?)

One bit of troublesome info is that the person that confirmed that Barba will stay also said emphatically that DJ will not play Andy but did/could not elaborate as to why. Barba has 3 years of remaining eligibility & was a good signing out of prep school/before getting healthy. I hope this great kid gets fair & ample opportunities to prove himself.

I think that DJ will need to bring in 3-4, high quality, A-10 starter level players to keep the train rolling. I hope that the holdovers are prepared to work like mad on their own development over the next 7 months so competition for playing time is intense among 10 or 11 guys.

I also hope that the team does not have 16-18 players again. I think that is bad news as far as a building a reputation for being the place that recruits over the top of players without regard to promises made.

This could be a big year for Hronsky. He is likely a forward to replace Drame with size and skill. on a tall team. If I were him, I would not risk starting over.  Barba will get way more time on the court at DU then going out in the portal.

Necas is the key. A 6 foot 10 inch guard/forward who is still growing (might be a 7 footer when it's all said and done) has the highest ceiling than any young Duquesne player i've ever seen. A future NBA player. I like Hronsky as well, and Dixon, Dimichelle, Barre, Rozier, and Nicholls. Think Nicholl's has the potential to be a real star starting next year. Just need a few hidden gems in the portal and this team will dance again.

Have such a good feeling where this program is going to go with Dru, Harper, and Gormley. Very impressed and excited. Let's get the best of the best in the portal. We have a solid base with Dixon, Rozier, Necas, DiMichelle, Barre, Nicholls, and Hronsky. Add 3 or 4 solid portal transfers and the incoming freshmen. Lots to be excited about.
