Two games in and I have to say, I love the increased commitment to following shots and going for rebounds. There were some times when it felt like we just gave those opportunities up with the past couple of coaches. There are lots of points we're getting off of that. It's appreciated.

It really was quite a game. I was glancing at some RMU boards and the fans there are really just lost. Feels like a lot is out of whack for them these days.

Big matchup next week, hope they're ready for SFU!

This is the best DU MBB news probably since I've been alive.

Wonderful.

Ball State is 12-12 the last two seasons Feb/Mar, and then 2-2 in CIT play those years. That's slightly concerning to me. That's not at the level of epic collapses that we've seen, but it's certainly below the bar set earlier in those seasons by those teams. I don't know how much of that to give to the level that Ball State plays. Doesn't mean he's wrong, either. I think it's just easy to be wired for skepticism with DU Hoops.

Well, boy if this didn't manage to drag me back up.

To be fair, didn't Harper say that they may not be able to begin in earnest until after the NCAA/NIT wind down? Or am I conflating that quote with something else? I'm not in a rush and frankly if we have to worry about this job or that job pulling a potential candidate, then they weren't necessarily someone who would be here for the time it would take to get this done anyway. What's to stop someone from buying them out in a year or two when the next job opens up?

I want the right guy, whatever that means. I don't know what it means anymore and I'm done trying to prognosticate it. Just entertain me with good basketball, compete in the postseason, and I'll be happy.

Check this comment out from Ferry.

CLK, I read this and it makes me think of the big Danny Nee article before he left.

Now as an aside, I can agree that helicopter parents are a BIG problem right now. That work ethic and all sorts of other issues exist these days with kids. Case in point - when a school board member went after the job of CV's Tim McConnell because his kid wasn't getting enough playing time.

But reading it in this context, all I can think of is Danny Nee going "Old school... isn't working."

(EDIT: I just read further and saw that ED said the same thing... yeah, I'm with you.)

Also apologies to our kicker Austin Crimmins... off the cuff, I said Crimmins in reference to an Albany player when I meant Chillis. Sorry, Austin!

I'm pretty sure the delay was beacuse of one of his kids close to graduating HS or something?

By the by, CLK's right on the bottom of the first page. I've mentioned on Yuku before too - just participating in fan communities like the ones we have put you under the definition of a "booster," according to the Compliance section of goduquesne.com. Best to be careful.

El Duque - I agree with most of your points. EXCEPT - how was the basketball team going to continue their turn of the corner without an experienced point guard and Marhold holding down the fort at center? For the first time, Everhart's bigs had a coach who specializes in big men as a resource, and they were still a poor fit for a fast-paced system. The team was already coming off of a mediocre season, then they lost a STAR player and an impact player. I just don't see how Everhart would have earned an extension this year, because I believe that this season was going to be poor no matter what.

Nonetheless, while I think you and I disagree on the necessity of firing Everhart, I do agree that Amodio handled every aspect of the firing and the subsequent search in a terrible way from a PR standpoint.

I'd still like to know who else he talked to when Ferry was interviewed. Besides Gaudio and Dambrot.

Except for RE and Suzie, Greg's hiring record is lame. None of his hired coaches has produced a single title in any sport. When he's made change proactively, we've taken BIG steps backwards. In lacrosse, we've gone way backwards since he allowed a very successful coach to get away. Every sport he has kept, has floundered. Don't want to hear which ones have made the A-10 tournament every year ... none of them have won anything.

And if he's excluded a great candidate for the women's BB job -- and an alumnae of the University at that -- out of ineptness, then we've clearly got a problem on our hands.

Not that many of us hadn't figured that one out already.

This is a huge hire. We have a veteran team with several all A-10 players coming back. If this program stumbles, it's one more piece of evidence that it's time for a new AD.

I am finally glad that people are realizing that GA's hiring record is lame.  I've been saying it for years.   (Insert mandatory Steve Opperman and his 50 games under .500 A-10 record here).

ED, I sent you a private message on a topic.

I absolutely agree with this. A moron could have realized that hiring SMS was a good idea, and in neither of the men's basketball searches did he get his first few choices. And the Double Dambrot effort was simply embarassing.

Jeralta, you have a few things incorrect.

"The vid was posted mid-Feb, long before the judge's decision."

Before the judge's decision in the Baldonado/James/Mensah, yes. But Sam's case was dismissed in 2010, exactly three years prior to his posting the referenced video. I would post proof, but the board won't let me because I haven't made two posts yet. Give me a second.
