I feel bad for you man… You will never be content or happy with anything until we win the NCAA Tournament.  You typify why we let RE go and had to suffer through the Ferry Duquesne Train wreck.

Cheers to this. The last 7 years were not all unicorns and rainbows, but the ultimate goal was achieved. I have no illusions that those who still harbor grudges against any/every coach won’t take every last chance to get their licks in.

Fortunately, being sour is not a commodity I find among my valued Duquesne friends

All the praise for Coach and the players is totally appropriate. Wanted to take a moment to congratulate and thank Dave Harper and the administration for setting the table. Improvements in all areas including alumni outreach, fundraising, facilities, branding, NIL. And facilitating the difficult course of hiring and supporting a coach and coaching staff through some pretty rough stretches. Duquesne is in a better place because we are in the hands of a fore-thinking AD.

I won’t believe we’re in until Phoenix posts the game thread.

I was trying to recall any Duquesne players who participated in the Olympics.  Kieron Achara was a member of the Great Britain team in 2012.  Who else, if any, am I missing?

Didn't Martin Osinami play internationally? I think Uraguay.

C'mon man. The Dukes coughed up a 22 point lead including a 15 point halftime advantage. I agree, the officiating sucked but, it didn't suck enough to kill a lead that large.

That loss is 90% on the players & coaches. I guarantee they know that as they have clearly progressed from that point in the season

Truth. There is no way RE would have lost that game

More kudos for the defensive effort. Biggest difference that I saw was that they didn't just cover the man, they covered the passing lanes in the half court defense. That limited open looks to the wings and the subsequent need for someone to rush the shooter once the ball is already on its way. Really liked Austin's offensive boards as well.

Favorite play of the game, tho, was a little touch pass that Reese made to Gunn (?) for an easy dunk in the second half. Looks like good team basketball.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would still harbor a grudge against RE, yet alone 10 years later.

Thanks, Ironduke81.  If you look at this game objectively, the line makes sense.  But there is nothing objective about playing in Olean.  I'm still pissed from that game up there in 2011 where the Dukes had their 8 game conference opening winning streak snapped. TJ McConnell stole the inbounds pass (right in front of the Bonnies student section) with less than 10 seconds left in the game, but the refs called a phantom travel. Of course, the Bonnies then hit a 3 to win the game. Hoping this trip will be different for the Dukes.

That game still stings. I think Davenport hit the three. No, I KNOW it was Davenport. Only thing I know about that kid.

Gold: LaSalle - Been to a number of games there. Their fans are the worst of Philly (and that's saying something)
Silver: Richmond - Respect as an institution, but I detest Mooney's smugness
Bronze: LaSalle When Temple was in the league, there was one too many Philly teams. Now that Temple is gone, there is still one too many Philly teams, and its LaSalle

I'm with VBC. Bonnies are my second favorite team overall. In spite of/because of the sibling rivalry. They just knew when to zag when we were too busy zigging for most of the last 40 years. That being said, I hope we crush them this week.

BTW.... lots of credit to the coaching staff for not rushing Reece and Gunn back. The conference season is way more important than the non-con, and these are the injuries that could plague the entire season.

Same thing, but different circumstances with Easley. Very talented player, but we saw what happened a few years ago when there was no discipline/accountability. I have no idea what the issues are, but I hope that he gets it together and rejoins the team on the floor. I'd sacrifice a win now for better team dynamics in the long run. This has already gone beyond a slap on the wrist, so Coach must be weighing the personal and team dynamics.

I only got to watch the second half of this one, but was impressed by the defense. The switches seemed much more thoughtful and disrupted the flow for UCSB. A few times I thought they would get to drive the lane, and any openings just closed up. Seemed less helter-skelter, and the lane coverage didn't leave a lot of uncontested shots on the perimeter.

Hopefully the guys that can stick around will stick around. Like the make up of this team.

Nice win. Wish some of these new faces could be on the 8 year plan like Austin. If we get healthy and is Easly is on board, this could be a really good team

Welcome to the 11th annual "I am a donor and I am done with Duquesne thread."

I love Duquesne. I guess I contribute more quietly as an alum and as a fan. Maybe I wasn't spoiled by success like some of you geezers. As a geezer myself (came to Duquesne in 1982) I never really experienced too much basketball success, but still love(d) the experience. For me, basketball is a component and not the be-all-end-all of my love of Duquesne. My fraternity won the frat league and all-school intramural titles in football and basketball my senior year, and frankly that was more meaningful to me than the basketball team making the A10 semis that year. Winning or losing doesn't take away from what I learned in the classrooms and in the dorm rooms and doesn't diminish how I feel about the University.

I would love for us to have the success of a Providence or even St. Bonnies, but I'll take from it what I can. I loved Everhart's run to the A10 championship game and our mini-success in Carry's freshman year, but I watched and listened to just as many games this year. And will the next as well. I can always hope for greater successes and my wish is that all students and alums and fans are treated well and fairly.

I have no answers to any of the six questions. No one else does right now either. I hope that the team and the Athletic Department and the University are scrappy and fight for success on every level. If you're looking for validation on the basketball court (especially as a Duquesne fan), you're probably looking in the wrong spot.

Go Dukes!

I'd be amazed if Rotroff really wants to put himself through another season of college basketball, but if he does, it should be somewhere else. If he's a good kid to have around then offer him a graduate assistant role or something.

It’s ironic that in many other threads, athletes are lambasted for having no loyalty and for moving on to other opportunities. Yet here we have a kid who has persevered through multiple surgeries and continues to represent Duquesne to the best of his abilities. I’d also like the team to win, but not at the expense of what Austin means to the team.

I am now praying feverishly that I live to hear Ray describe a Primo to Chico to Pedro fast break. If only there were an under-the-radar 7-footer named Groucho available to clean the glass & throw an outlet pass to get things started.

(I may have to be content with that outlet pass being Gunned down the floor to Primo.)

Would be great if Fitzgerald Bobo still had eligibility remaining
