What's up with St. Louis?  Fired coach Travis Ford after seven years winning an A-10 conference playoff game and a 150-100 win-loss record.  Too bad for Chas Thomas!

It is not really difficult to see a practice.  I happen to be a long time friend to Bruce Atkins and that is my source of access. All you need to do is call the coach at his office and let him know who you are.  Then, ask if you can attend a practice.  My guess is he says yes and you go and watch and keep your mouth shut unless asked questions.  Last year I was asked what I thought of Rozier who happened to have a great practice.  Coach said he loved Rozier and would be getting lots of playing time.  Same thing with Hronsky.

Jimmy Clark played PG at VCU.  I have no problem if he is our starting PG.  His only problem is he is so agressive on defense he gets into foul trouble that limits his playing time.  He plays a lot like ajax and mike james at the PG position.  I also hve no problem if KD goes with only two guards,  two forwards and a center.  He was very successful with that mix at Akron because he had the talent at those positions.  It appears he will have the talent with this years team to play that same type of hoops.

As Myron Cope used to say "A little birdie told me....." there is a chance that Joe Reece will be given an  added year of eligibility due to circumstances while he was at his prior University and had either a medical or some other
"legitimate" reason for missing a year of action.  A success by Reece would surely change what KD and his staff do with the portal eligibles.

Did anyone besides me see at the recent 76ers vs. Mavericks game in Philly that Thomas Kline, he of the $50M donation to Duquesne Law School, caught a basketball to return to the ref while seated on the sideline?  He and his lady companion almost got trampled by one of the hoopers.  If he is that big a hoops fan why not approach hIm to use his name as a sponsor to a holiday invitational tournament at the Coop fieldhouse?  Just a random thought!  Using a Duquesne grad who contributed mightily to the $333,333,000.00 campaign might not be a bad idea.  Whaddya folks think?  Positive and/or negative comments welcome.

Dome;
I believe the adjustment will be to move Jimmy Clark to the point and have either "smurf guard" act as a 2-guard playing the right wing with Dae Dae on the left with our "bigs" on the blocks or elbows.  Clark responded with three very nice 3-pointers while playing the point. As a supplemental plan, Q  can be used as a point guard.  Coach has plenty of options  because of the team depth.  Umass tried a 1-2-2 trap press with little success last night. Coach's use of RJ and Austin Rotroff negated that effort by Umass along with negating their use of rough house tactics.  That is what I saw and liked.

A group of ten of us were there.  Went to the Atlantic City Marina on Saturday and to Lasalle's gym on Sunday.  Billy Clark lit them up for 30 some points in a double overtime win.  Great time had by all.  I still visit the Marina to say hello to my lost wages!

Just when I thought Ritter's Diner was gone for good, he/she came back as conjoined twins.  Gawd, this is no way to prepare for the Lenten season.  Quid, quid receipitur in modo receipenti est!  Chill out posters and let us who see the glass as half full enjoy this season and forget the past.  I go to Confession to tell the Lord I have sinned. He forgives  me if he believes I have a repentant mindset, he cleasnes my mind, body and soul!  Spiritus est qui vivificat!  I, in turn, never look back on my misgivings..

Some plays are exceptional.  That play was a game changer and hit St. Joe's like a dagger in the heart.  It sent the message that "you can't beat us" unless you have the ability to mount  a super human effort.  It totally deflated the Hawks.

THE LIGHT BLUE HEART IS TO REMIND THE PUBLIC OF AUTISM AND WELLNESS PREPAREDNESS TO THAT CONDITION.

Problem is that you gotta pony up $100,000 to host a CBI game.  You get nothing in exchange except for the limited exposure of TV for the game.

Almost perfect first half by the Dukes??????  Best effort for any 20 minutes this year by the Dukes.  It is frustrating to know they can be this good and yet sometimes be abysmal.  But, I am still enjoying this season, especially after this first half. Time will tell if I feel the same way at the end of this game.

Your joking right? Hima is averaging approx. 10 minutes a game at Syracuse as a Soph.? He is in every game?  Want to pick on a dud that left DU. Then find one. Hima is in every game for a Power 5 team? Look it up. I just did. Austin doesn't get as much time for DU as Hima for Syracuse?  So what was your point? KD couldn't or wouldn't play him? As for KD's freshman, they are nearly not off the bench at this point in conf. play?  So again, tell me how our freshmen did in the last game or how well KD coached them up? Dixon, zero, Barre 7 junk minutes? Hima? Really? Between Hima's time in games for Syracuse, and our freshman, I'd rather be Hima?

If you really believe this, then ditch Comcast's ESPN Plus for the
ACC channel and their conference games.  With all his minutes more than
Austin, Hima is still averaging a whopping 1.7 pts per game. WOW!  Look it up. I did.  My point is simple.  Duquesne lost nothing when Hima left. What did a power 5 school get.  1.7 pts per game. Again, I say WOW!

KD is way too polite to say one of his players is/was a stiff.  Hima fit that mold unfortunately.  Look at his stats at Syracuse and you will see an almost exact duplicate of his competency/incompetency level of last year.  He's gone!  Forget him and wish him the best.  But, don't belabor the point  and criticize  coach KD for not using a player who made absolutely no difference in the plus side of Duquesne's record last year.  I think if he had stayed, he'd most likely  be behind Barre and Dixon for play time. The progression of both of the current freshman big men-Dixon and Barre- should speak volumes as to KD's ability to coach up a player.

Pardon me for waxing nostalgic a bit.  RJ's shot is mindful of Roland Jones out of New Haven, Conn.  Roland was a lefty who averaged about 10.5 points over his career at Duquesne.  He was co-captain with Norm Nixon in the late 70's. He went to the same school as John Thomas and a few others in New Haven who played at Duquesne.  If memory serves me correctly, John Cinicola was tight with one of the New Haven coaches and they formed a bond that helped create a recruiting pipeline for Duquesne for a while.   And yes, RJ does bring back fond memories of a prior Duquesne standout.  Back to the present!!!!!!

It may not seem like much to us older fans....but, it represents something that is students-to-students!  I like the initiative shown here.  It is only a start, but it represents the importance of student athlete to student  relationships.  Kudos to the person responsible for this thought.

Tejas:  FYI!

Spoke with a Barnes & Noble clerk who was in charge of a movable stand at the Cooper Fieldhouse during the  Rhode Island game yesterday.  There has been an order for Duquesne merchandise bearing the Lion Brand for some time. She does not know the reason for the delay in their receiving merchandise.  She invited me to check in on Wednesday when Dukes play VCU.  I'll post her update on this board!
